Hello everyone, I have been working as a cna for over 7 years and I love my job. I currently started working at a ltc facility in March. Last night I had to have assistance with getting a patient back in the bed that was in a gerry chair. The patient could not help and is a large male. I pick and play with this patient all the time and he is all the time asking me to go out and I tell him that I don't think my husband would like that too well. Anyways to make a long story short, he had a bowel movement once we got him in the bed and he always laughs and says sorry bout that. I laughed at him too and jokingly told him nope I am not going to forgive him and he kept on laughing. I then told him that he would have to beg me to forgive him all the time I am still laughing and playing around and he is still smiling. Today when I show up for my shift, I was told that I was being investigated for verbal abuse towards my patient. I am very upset about this and very hurt. I would never intentially do anything to hurt my patients and what makes me even more hurt is that the cna that turned me in I assume saw him laughing and carrying on with me. The patient remembers sometimes and sometimes he doesn't so I am having to wait for the social worker to talk to him and see if they are going fire me and put it on my register. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. I know looking back now that it does possibly sound bad but I didn't raise my voice and we were smiling the whole time it was going on. Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this!
