good plan you got there. But no matter how much extra training you give somebody,or technical skills someone could learn,or a few extra bucks someone could make ect, ect, the fact is this.....a CNA,nurse technition, or assistant nurse(whatever we can be called)will ALWAYS,ALWAYS,ALWAYS be looked down on by someone in whatever facility we will be working in. How about giving Administration, managers, supervisors, and DON's extenssive training on how to relate to people by looking AT THEM instead of DOWN on them.If I had a bill to pass,I'd have those i listed above be required to do my job for a six month period with MY PAY.I'd love to have them take a class in humility and reality check 101! The first class would be on how to humble yourself by changing a real dirty diaper on a stoke patient who is paralised on one side and weighs 279lbs.....ALONE!!...The second class would be on how to feed someone their lunch while they are sharing it right back at you. The third class would be on how to pry someones teeth from your arm the proper way without losing a chunk of skin. ect. ect. The truth is ,there wouldn't be so many rotten cna's out there if the powers that be who are running these ltc facilities would treat us like human beings. For god's sake,we are doing a job that is so importiant and vital for so many people. And one day, those people who look down on me and you and others who work the same jobs we do ...........will NEED us to provide some form of care for them. Hopefully in the future things will change for the better.A little bit of RESPECT from the higher ups would go a long, long way.
