Seems to me like this woman was always catered to,pampered,and babied, and carried on until she got her way all her life. Someone like this can be a real problem.Whatever you do,always have a witness with you when you do anything for her.Do whatever you can for her,and get out as fast as you can. But please do not neglect the rest of your residents because of this womans selfish behavior. It's not fair to them. You shouldn't have to work like this because of someone elses issues.What does your social worker say about it? Has she(or he)to the family about what's going on? And is all this documented in her behavior notes? It's a shame that this stuff goes on,really.
But can I ask you a question?--If this were reversed,and this woman were african american and disliked caucason people and called them names and were derogitory tword them, would that be alright with you?---I'm only asking this because I've experienced many african american and jamacian cna's use someones "prejudice" as an excuse to try and get away with not taking care of someone who was very difficult to deal with.I'm not saying that you or your coworkers are by the way. I'm just making a statement based on what i've experienced. I myself have had to take care of an african american woman who absolutely hated and i mean hated white people.But that was ok.My co workers wouldn't cut me any slack and found this quite enjoyable.Our assignments are always the same. Same people every day.This woman was a new admission of mine because my other resident had moved to a different floor for rehab. Well,after a while,and many cold cocks to the head(my head thank you),the woman realized that I was alright and that I could be trusted. I'm only saying this because I know that there are always difficult people to deal with who come in many different colors. and unfortunately, this older generation still has some people who are prejudice. Things do go both ways.There are people out there that use it as an exuse to get out of doing something they don't want to do. And I'll tell you one thing,I didn't back down from this situation and It was very gratifying for me to be able to finally win this womans trust and get her to like me!!---Just stick it out the best you can---look at it this way, Look at where she is,and look at where you are. Which situation would you prefer to be in?
