Nursing is nursing.
It doesn't matter what setting we work in. EVERY nurse and EVERY aide is trained in bed sore prevention. There are NO excuses for this to happen in this day and age...but the reality is that in health care facilities skin problems still occur all the time. I think a lot of this is because of staffing- when there aren't enough aides, care doesn't happen OR certain tasks take priority over others.
Many people COME to nursing homes from their own homes with sores, and this is because families have little to no understanding of the problems and associated prevention...
