At my workplace, a day off is like signing a deal with the devil!! We had the same staffing on Tuesday and Wednesday, and I asked to switch my Wednesday off for Tuesday, because I had an in depth dentist appt., but my supervisor took my request verrryy lightly. I tried to chase her down after my shift, only to here her say "NO", while she had her back turned towards me and never looked me in the eye. I later looked at the schedule, and I would have actually helped staffing by switching my days off, but I could tell by her tone of voice, that she never even looked at the schedule!! On our way out of the building, I knew she was about 30 foot in Front of me, but she must have heard me say " I bet she didn't even look at tommorow's schedule!" Because the next night, she did rounds on my floor and no other, and she always does rounds on all floors the same night!! But she didn't find much wrong - even though she checked rooms we hadn't been in yet!! I told the new girl I am working with that J wasn't my favorite supervisor, and she said she seems a bit "Cold"! And she has only been here 2 weeks!!! I told her not to worry, because we did our job and we did it pretty damn well! But that morning a resident put it all in prospective for me - she really wanted to get out a recliner and knew she was not allowed to get up by herself, and REEAALLY wanted someone to get her out and into her wheelchair so she could go to breakfast. After I helped her she said, " I wish more could be as human as you". I wanted to jump into her lap and cry, but I just smiled and went on, since it was 15 minutes after my shift!! When residents say something like that to me, it just melts my heart, and I come back for more. That resident made forget all about my evil supervisor.
