The thing is, you really don't make that much more as an LPN. Plus, it will give you the experience of a nurse -except for certain types of meds LPNs can't give. Once you start the bridge program you will be more comfortable in your RN role. Don't just consider loans as your only option. Find a facility that will help with reimbursement and/or offer a bridge program with stipulations of working there for so many years once you obtain your RN. It might be helpful to you to contact the different facilities in your area (nursing homes and hospitals) and ask to speak with their nursing recruiter or HR. Ask them about any programs they might have - interview them!! Then see if there are CNA jobs and get your foot in the door of your best option. Also, is there a Job Corp in your area? There are many different avenues you can take. | |
