I was on the receiving end of this type of criticism from another tech, and I was told "you need to develop a routine" or "you're slow". Well, perhaps, but I was doing it as I was trained by the Red Cross, and gave awesome detailed care. I am in fact the original author of that message "They told me I was slow"

As for the tech I had trouble with, we almost got into a friendly shoving match in the hall about it. Now, this being said, I was told the same thing by an RN years later in telemetry. She was constantly on my case in this way. I decided that I would memorize 10 things that I did not like about the way she provided care at her level, and vowed to tell her the next time she criticized me. Well, surely enough, there came a bad day on telemetry, and I was late getting her people started. She paged me to meet her in a room, and she was about to rant. I got the drop on her and it all just spilled out perfectly. This was a risky move as it was in front of a patient who as A & O x3. She got to the NM first. I was pulled into the NM's office, and I read the "rational, calm xtech64" version of the speech. She got dragged into the NM's office once again and got royally chewed out for the way she treated me. It worked beautifully, and she walked out in tears. I saw her at an office christmas part that she and she was nothing but respectful. We never really talked again after that, but it was worth it.
Good luck,
