I think every RN/LPN should work as a CNA as a prereq to nursing school. In Fl our Adult Education Schools offer CNA class and they don't charge near as much as the private school. Nursing home also offer free classes but then you have to work for them. In some states (FL is one of them) you can take the CNA test without going to school at all. I work in a Level 1 Trauma Center in the Trauma ICU. We have some 350 CNAs (PCTs) who work here. So LTC is not your option.
