Response to What makes a Good Aide

Acting abilities: Addressing every resident as if they are "Nancy Reagan" even though you may want to CLOCK THEM! Always checking their tone of voice as to not sound like they are talking to children.

Huge capacity for patience

Emotional Maturity

perceive's their profession as a "calling"

Generous spirit and ability to share useful information in order to empower Residents and other staff

Good listener

Rarely responds when asked to help/team up , "she's not my Resident/patient"

Cuts to the chase and is able to maneuver and adjust successfully around Resident/patient manipulative behavior. Validates Resident's feelings, despite inapropriate and resistive behaviors.

Just has a "Knack"

Quietly goes about their business with expressive positive body language and is able to illicit cooperation utilizing non verbal cues

Treats a Resident/patient holistically.
