All of the above qualities are a must and my comment is not to minimize them but...

*PROFESSIONALISM!!! (always my #1)
*good technical skills
*critical thinking
*tough back bone (you have to be about to deal with tough patients,families,other staff, and management)crying in the bathroom all day doesn't get patient care done.
*willing to learn
*willing to change!! (this is for some of the ol' timers!!-I'm one of them)Just because they did it that way 10 years ago...
*good time management (taking 4 extra cig. breaks then bitching because you are behind!!!-think about it!)I know!!.. it is not only smokers!!
*troubleshooting

Of course, you can't be all this and have no compassion and other qualities mentioned. A good balance-though, sometimes that can be tough to keep up with everyday!

Fact of the matter is it is not an easy job!!
