I need some help. I was certified as a nursing assistant back in 2003 in the state of new york. However, I wasn't state certified, meaning I can't work in a nursing home. I was nationally certified which is fine with me. I currently work in the operating room at stonybrook hospital. However, myself and a bunch of my co workers just realized that we never received any notification about renewing our certification and just came to realize that it's most likely expired.
I am relocating to California in a few months and wanted to get a job there as a nursing assistant but now I'm being informed by the nurse who taught my class that my certification is expired because I never renewed it. Being that I'm nationally certified, not state, she told me to contact the national registry for nursing assistants or something to that affect.
