writing about nursing homeJuly 30 2009 at 2:34 AM
I'm not a Nursing assistant so hopefully this won't get removed. I'm writing a novel that takes place in a nursing home and the main character is a nursing assistant. I've done alot of reading to try and understand nursing homes and assistants but I'm still having some trouble. I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. somethings i can't find enough info on is:
What is the employment hierarchy of a nursing home? who's the boss? Are there any nurses and doctors or just nursing assistants? Are there other administrative positions/people who run the administrative side or is that also the responsibility of nursing assistants?
I've read there's alot of paper work, for things like missing possessions of residents. What sorts of other things require paper work? Is there anyone who helps with that (again relates to question about administration). Does each assistant get their own office or is there some larger office to be shared?
How many residents would there be to a single assistant? are there any particular things that come to mind that nursing assistants will absolutely NOT do?
Hopefully I haven't asked too much. Of course any and all answers are greatly appreciated. comments and Suggestions for further reading are also very welcome.
