Hi,
I'm a CNA working in Wisconsin. I hear you loud and clear with your concerns. I've been in this field for 16 years. I've promised myself so many times I'd further my education to get out of this profession. We both have one thing in common. We care. We are truely committed to giving our residents the best care in every sense. It seems like the problems we are facing are state and nation wide. Low staff to resident ratio and the slackers we work with!!
Right now, I am so discouraged about this profession that my goal is to write a book about it. Seriously, if you would be interested in telling your story, and if you have other co-workers that feel as you and I do, I would welcome the opportunity to hear your stories. All personal info would remain confidential. I'm just starting to make inquires of other CNA's, but as we both know, it's a risky thing. If we want to stay employed, we have to pretty much keep our mouths shut and do what we're told.
I'm with you one hundred percent. Please hang in there. I keep thinking about what I or my friends and family members are in for in some of these instituions. Good luck to you!! Pat G.
