      Oh, Tammie! We need to work together! If only my fellow workers had the same insight as you and I! It takes a special person to realize the actual needs of their residents and not just their basic care.
      The process is very simple really, just imagine yourself in the bed. Try to protect dignity and encourage a sense of self.
      Approach calmly and speak softly.
      Explain your reason for being there.
      Listen for their tone of voice.
      Look at facial expressions.
      Understand what it must be like to be at the mercy of another.

      When my residents tell me that I am their angel, I say no, you are
      mistaken, because you are my angel, you just don't know it yet.
