USA 7/8-12/02. Herminio talks to the camera. He is soon to marry but wishes for more passion. At the same time, Maria talks to the camera. Her novio is rich but something is missing, there isn't any magic. Susi, the secretary, passes a call to ______. It is from two men who threaten the life of her husband Antonio if she doesn't pay them. There is gunfire, a car chase involving Herminio. It turns out to be a taped replay of an exercise for a group of security guards. Herminio why he and his partner Alvaro acted as they did and is praised for his decisions. Hermnio is told that he is being transferred. Maria gets a new car for her birthday. 6 guards are assigned to Antonio's family: 3 men on him, two for his wife and one for his 20-year-old son. Maria gets flowers from Federico, her novio of 6 months. Sitting with a facial mask on, he tells his friend she is the right woman to marry. Herminio admits that after a six-year engagement, he still isn't sure, he has dreams. Wilson and Cindy work on a car; Herminio tells his novia Cindy that he is being transferred. She asks if it means an increase in his salary and he admits that he didn't ask. When he tells her, in answer to a question, that he doesn't want to marry, she takes it as a joke. He tells her he placed first in his class.
At a party, Federico arrives and greets José Ramon, the father of Maria. He is his right-hand man in the business, tells him there are some problems with some clients. Then he proposes to Maria and gives her a ring. She doesn't accept it and walks away. José Ramon asks Federico if he loves her; when he says yes, her father says he will talk to her. At the same time, there is another party attended by Herminio and Cindy to "sanctify" their engagement. The priest lets them try on the rings.
Maria confesses to her friend that she said no because it seemed like a business proposition. Her dad asks for an explanation. She tells him she is only 23, wants to marry Federico but not now, her carrerra isn't finished, they've been dating only 6 months. Her father tells her he doesn't want to force her but is sure they will be the perfect couple. He feels old, depends on her, why wait? Federico talks with her and all she can say is that she expected something more. He tells her he doesn't want a long engagement, asks her if she is serious about him. She says she is and does want to marry him.
Antonio calls Sofia and asks if she like the flowers (has to be careful because she is married) and quickly changes the conversation when his wife enters the room. Herminio arrives with his men. After he introduces himself and his men, Antonio insists on calling him Pablo instead of Herminio, tells him he doesn't want to be followed every moment. In that case, Pablo tells him they must refuse the job, tells him the security plan, will be his shadow but are not interested in his personal life, tells him the threats are real. Antonio, finally, accepts but demands that the guards get appropriate clothes and tell him where to go. Cindy helps him buy the appropriate outfits. José Ramon tells Federico he wants Antonio Santamaria's land, but knows he won't sell to him, must force him to do it, demands discretion and loyalty.
7/9/02. Federico gets information from Roberto: Janet Martín is Antonio's gerente. Federico and his parents are not on talking terms. Herminio tells Antonio to seel his car because it isn't safe enought. Antonio tells his wife he is going to Cartagena, must go alonge. José Ramon also decides to go to Cartagena at the same time. Maria asks to go with him. Cindy tries on her wedding veil. Herminio sees her, tells her he must go to Cartagena on business for 4 days. Federico can't go to Cartagena because of a golf tournament. Antonio pays the hotel expenses for the guards but the accomodations are definitely second-class. Antonio calls Sofia and they go out. Pablo and his men follow, at a discreet distance. Silvana and Maria also go for a walk. She sees him in the square and takes pictures of him. Later, she sees him on the beach and laughs when he trips over some debris. He asks her why she was taking pictures of him and she denies it, says she was taking pictures of buildings, etc. As he walks away, she hopes he will turn back but he doesn't, until she has turned away. Maria talks to Silvana about seeing Pablo before in the square. Pablo tells Alvaro about her. Then Cindy calls him and Maria calls Federico. Maria and Silvana end up at the same disco where Pablo and his men are guarding Antonio and Sofia. Maria tries to talk to him, asks him to dance. but notices him looking at Sofia and can't get a response. His answers are non-responsive. Angry she starts to dance alone, not very well. When she leaves, she is followed by three men (one of whom she had refused to dance with). Pablo follows them and fights them when they attack her in an alley. Pablo saves Maria, fighting off 3 men and, in a restaurant, explains how he did. Antonio recognizes Maria as the daughter of JR. Pablo tells her about his family but I think he was lying. Antonio is worried about JR.
7/10/02. Sofia won't let Antonio into her room at night. Herminio and his two men argue about his leaving his post, etc. Alvaro tells Pablo that Ernesto is jealous because he isn't the head of the group. Pablo admits to Alvaro that he lied to Maria about his family. 3 armed cousins discuss how they will locate Antonio. Sofia tells Antonio that Martin invited her to the business meet and must attent, but Antonio convinces her to spend the day with him. JR tells Maria to join him at the meeting because she will inherit the business one day. Antonio convinces Pablo to let him and Sofia go on a boat alone. Maria tells Silvana that Pablo must be rich because of his car and the hotel. Pablo goes to a restaurant and checks out the prices, makes a deal with a waiter: he'll pay part of the cost for lobster and champagne, his rich boss will bring additional business. The waiter agrees re the lobster but Pablo has to buy his own champagne. JR introduces his daughter, Janet Martin and Alex Patrick to the potential sellers, tells them that he wawnts to buy their land to expand his flower-selling business. Most say it would be a problem because they have outstanding contracts, many with Antonio. JR says he will pay for the cancellation. Maria invents an excuse for leaving and arrives late for lunch. Unfortunately, she orders something else. Antonio and Sofia discuss the odd coincidence that each assumed the other was happily married.
7/11/02. Pobre offers Maria's guard lunch; she says her father never does, they shouldn't become accustomed to the good things. JR asks Silvana where Maria is. She tells him that Ferné went with her; JR calls him but he doesn't answer. Pedro realizes he doesn't know how to eat lobster, looks at another. Pablo tells her he has many responsibilities, must attend the conference, has a business in Bogota. She tells him she's been in Miami for 3 years and will stay until she finishes school, loves her country but Miami has many attractions (concerts, shopping, sun). Pablo tells her about his yacht, etc., remembering what Antonio told him. Antonio calls his wife,Ligiawho wonders where he is. Pablo tells Maria's guard how important his job is. Ernesto watches Maria and Pablo. Antonio calls Pablo at the hotel. Pablo and Maria walk; she takes photos. Pablo leaves her quickly because he has an appointment. Nobody can find Maria. Sofia becomes angry with Antonio; she cancelled a meeting with Janet Martin to go with him but when his wife tells him he has to meet Janet Martin, he cuts short their boat trip to make the meeting. Maria returns and her father asks where she was. She says "taking photos", says she left the meeting because she had a headache and felt sick. When Ferné tells JR he didn't answer the phone because it was in his hotel room, JR becomes furious. Maria tells him it isn't Ferné's fault. JR tells Silvana and Ferné to leave, tells Maria never to correct him in front of the employees and not to leave the hotel without his permission. JR runs into Antonio and Sofia in the hotel. JR tells them that his daughter with marry Federico, the son of a minister, in a few days. Sofia introduces Antonio to Janet. Antonio discusses terms with Janet. Sofia is jealous of Janet. His wife calls him and asks to talk with Janet. After they hang up, Janet tells them what the morning meeting was about. Antonio asks Pablo and Ernesto where they were. Ernesto tells Antonio that Pablo isn't the right person to be in charge of the group. He was late for the appointment because he was with a girl. Pablo admits it was true. Antonio tells him he will be fired when they return to Bogota. Pablo admits to Alvaro he was a fool but doesn't regret it, tells him all the new lies he told Maria.
7/12/02. Pablo and Alvaro talk about Maria, his lies, whether she knows he has a novia, etc. At the same time, Silvana and Maria are talking about him: is he really rich? does he know she has a novio? Antonio convinces Sofia to let him in the room but he keeps getting distracted from the romance by his business problems, remembers the girl Pablo was with, the daughter of his enemy. He leaves Sofia and questions Nestor and Alvaro about Pablo's girl, laughs when he learns that she doesn't know he is a guard. Pablo goes to an ATM machine and then to Maria's room, tells her he has cancelled all his obligations to spend the night with her. She, however, has to convince Ferné to let her go out alone. They go riding in a horse-driven buggy, then go to a campfire of some kind. Meanwhile, her father is telling Gabriel to keep an eye on her. He calls Silvana twice who pretends that she is in the bathroom the first time and later that he has awakened her. When she pretends to try to wake up Maria, he tells her not to. Maria and Pablo kiss. She tells him they can alternate weekends; it is only 3.5 hours between Bogota and Miami. He takes her back to the hotel where Gabriel sees them return. Sofia forgives Antonio but won't let him into her hotel room. Pablo gives Antonio the broken cell phone and his watch and, after his prompting, confesses all that happened: how he met her, how he felt so small compared to her, was afraid to tell her he was an escolta, started to lie, using the things that Antonio had sad, tells about the lobster and the champagne. Antonio laughs goodheartedly at different parts of the story. Pablo admits that 3 dates with her used up half his savings. Antonio not only doesn't fire him, but gives him the next day off to spend with her and offers both his yacht and 2nd home, not explaining (of course) his real motive. Federico calls Maria and asks her where she has been all the time, if he didn't know better he's suspect there was somebody else I nher life. Pablo calls Cindy who asks him for a loan of 50,000 pesos for, I think, their wedding or the apartment.
Lunes 28 de agosto Nueva novela del canal RCN que cuenta la historia de Pablo, un escolta que se enamora de María Alcalá, una joven de la alta sociedad. Martes 29 de agosto Pablo y María disfrutan de un delicioso almuerzo, en medio de la comida, Pablo sorprende a su invitada pues pocas veces ha presenciado que los altos ejecutivos le ofrezcan a los escoltas una copa de champaña. José Ramón les comunica a los compradores que está alojado en el hotel Santa Clara por si ellos desean hacer algún negocio con él. El administrador del lujoso hotel le da a Pablo una pequeña clase de protocolo en la que le enseña como utilizar los cubiertos en el momento de comer la langosta y así no quedar mal ante María. Ligia le comenta a su secretaria que necesita localizar a su marido, tratando de ayudarla, Susy de inmediato le consigue el programa del congreso. Miércoles 30 de agosto José Ramón se enfurece cuando María no asiste al almuerzo que él organizó para atender a sus invitados, en medio de la ira, le impone un severo castigo a su hija. Pablo está preocupado pues no sabe si el jefe lo anda buscando, para evitarse problemas, el escolta le pregunta a Néstor y a Álvaro si el floricultor ya se encuentra en el hotel. Sofía se muere de los celos cuando ve que Antonio se porta muy amable con Janeth. Jueves 31 de agosto Antonio sorprende a Sofía con una tentadora invitación, ella acepta encantada. Santamaría le pide a Álvaro que le cuente con detalles todo lo que sabe sobre la aventura que viven María y Pablo. José Ramón les ordena a sus escoltas que averigüen el por qué su hija está tan extraña y les advierte que por nada del mundo la descuiden. Después de oír a su jefe, Gabriel le dice a Ferney que teme por lo que pueda pasar pues está seguro que si algo malo le ocurre a María ellos pagarán las consecuencias. Viernes 01 de septiembre Buscando fortalecer su relación, María le propone a Pablo que se turnen los viajes entre Miami y Bogotá, estrategia que les permitirá verse todos los fines de semana. Antonio le reclama a Pablo por su irresponsabilidad y él un poco ofuscado le pide que no opine sobre su vida personal. Silvana nota una extraña actitud en María y le expresa lo que piensa de Pablo.

USA 7/15-19/02. 7/15/02. Gabriel tells JR that Maria went out with some guy the night before and tries to excuse Ferné. At breakfast, she lies to her father about what she did the night before. Dr. Torres tells Antonion that business is bad and they've received a good offer, agrees to talk with him at lunch. Pablo, sitting at a different table, twice suggests the Fish Club and Antonio agrees. Afterwards, Pablo explains that the administrator gave him a large discount in expectation of a large business lunch. Antonio laugs. Torres runs into JR and, off the cuff, mentions the lunch. Pablo decides to tell Mari the truth but lacks the nerve and takes advantage of Antonio's offer to take Maria out on the yacht and to the island, is treated as the owner by all concerned, learns how to scuba dive with 1 minute of instruction, etc. It is a magical day for him. Gabriel tells JR that Mari went on a yacht with the guy and Ferné, couldn't find out his name from anybody. Meanwhile, Antonio talks with the flower growers about the offer JR made. Sofia tells him it is a good deal for them. He offers to buy the land but admits he lacks the money at the moment. He asks them to give him a year: it is up to them, sell now or wait. Sofia tells him it wasn't personal, just business but he insists that if he hadn't stood her up the previous night, she would have supported him regardless of the economics.
7/16/02. Pablo tells Maria he feels something special for her but he has been engaged for a long time. She admits that she, too, has ha novio but feels something special for him. They they admit to each other that they in love. But then they tell each other that are to marry soon, so it is too late for them. They kiss passionately and make love. Afterwards, Pablo asks Maria if she would still love him if he were, for example, Ferné, un ascolta. She says that she isn't prejudiced but believes in relationships between people of the same class. She is rich and graduated from the best college in Miami. It wouldn't make sense for her to fall in love with somebody who lacked a similar education, lacked culture. She is certain that she would know if somebody were of a different class: it would be obvious. In short, it becomes clear to Pablo that she wouldn't love him if she knew who he was. When he leaves her at the dock, she admits to him that what happened between them had never happened between her and Federico. At the same time, Cindy admits to Jenny that there have been only kisses between her and Pablo.
Meanwhile, Antonio talks to José Ramon about his plans to buy the land. JR denies that he is still seeking revenge. But then they talk about something that happened in the past. JR wanted to marry Lidia? In short, the two declare war on each other. Antonio tells Sofia that he is just helping Pablo, has no ulterior motive.
Pablo confesses to Nestor all of his lives. Antonio asks for details of his day. Pablo tells him that his men treated him as if he were the real owner. Antonio tries to find out if they had sex and, from Pablo's unwillingness to respond to his prompts, tells his friend Bernie that they did. Antonio first warns Pablo not to go to the dinner with Maria's father because he will know at once that he isn't a flower grower. Later he changes his mind and tells him to go, he can pull it off. He plans to have his friend recognize Pablo as his ascolta and, thus, embarrass JR.
Sofia gives Antonio another chance; unfortunately she makes a date for the same time he has made a date with Janet.
Meanwhile, JR demands to know where his daughter spent the day and doesn't believe her lies; he knows that she was on a yacht with a man. At first she tells him it was an old friend from school, then she admits it was somebody new, Pablo Guerrero, in the same business. She admits that she feels something special for him and says he will see she is right when he meets him at dinner, begs him to give Pablo a chance.
Antonio's wife decides to go to Cartagena to surprise her husband. Ferné finds JR shaving; JR asks him to sit down and starts to shaves Ferné with a straight razor as he questions him about his daughter. Ferné asserts that he must be loyal to both of them, defends Maria as a woman who would never disappoint her father. This infuriates and worries her father; because the defense is so strong, he suspects Ferné's feelings. I think he fires him.
USA 7/17/02. Maria and her father wait for Pablo. Antonio arrives with his friend after Maria has left the tale; the friend, as they had planned, insists that the other man at the table is his ascolta. [I don't know who it was.] Antonio drags his friend away and tells him it wasn't Pablo. Sofia arrives for her date with Antonio in his hotel room. Just as they start to kiss, there is a knock on the door. It is Janet (his other date for the night). Antonio's wife arrives and runs into Sofia who tells her that Antonio will be happy to see her.
Pablo and his associates see Antonio's wife. Pablo grabs Janet and gets her out of the room through another entrance just in time. His wife asks him about the perfume in the room. Janet thinks that she has been kidnapped and raises a ruckus. DoñaLigiavisits the guards' room, says she heard a woman's shout, asks who is in the bathroom. Alvaro has Janet under the shower. Silvana and Maria go to Pablo's room andLigiaopens the door. Even though she is older, Maria assumes that Pablo must like older women.Ligiademands Antonio to tell her the truth; was he with a woman. He assures her he wasn't. When Maria asks her father to hire back Ferné, he becomes worried that she is in love with him. She assures him that she isn't. Afterwards she tells Silvana that Pablo became distant with her after what happened between them; obviously that is all he wanted. At the same time Pablo tells Alvaro he thinks she must believe he just wanted one thing. Alvaro tells him it is for the best. Herminio is going to be married, has many obligations. Pablo tells Alvaro that he is going to break up with Cindy. Silvana finds Pablo on the balcony and berates him for taking advantage of a wonderful girl like Maria.
Sofia greets Antonio andLigiathe next morning. The cousins follow his car. Maria thanks her father for re-hiring Ferné. Antonio thanks Pablo for the night before and is surprised to learn that he didn't go to the dinner with Cindy because Nestor suggested that if somebody recognized him, JR would assume that Antonio put Pablo up to it which would make things worse for him. Antonio seems to realize that Nestor was right. Maria says goodbye to Silvana at the airport. The cousins get ready to kill Antonio.
7/18/02. Pablo and his men spoil the attack. Mari and her father return. On the plane, she tells him she loves Federico but isn't in love with him. Pablo tells Alvaro he has to break up with Cindy, even if he can't have Maria. Both Pablo and Maria return home determined to cancel their engagements. JR tells his wife Ana about Maria and Pablo; he also tells her, Federico and Maria that his business venture wasn't successful; they wouldn't sell and his investor is no longer interested. Federico asks Maria if there is somebody else. She tells him that nothing is going on but doesn't look him in the eye. She pretends to be upset because he didn't go with her to Cartagena; he explains again about the golf and she tells him he needs a caddy not a wife. Then she admits she met somebody in Cartagena. They argue a bit, he drives off and tells her to stay with him. Cindy gets Pablo alone, shows him her sexy bra and offers to show him more, but he stops her. She asks him to tell her what happened in Cartagena. He tells her he met somebody there. They smile at each other, she punches him. Pablo's sister asks if he saw Cinci's new underwear. He tells her that making loving isn't mechanical, you do it with somebody you love. Maria's father tells her she will be sorry.
7/19/02. Federico asks JR what he is going to do and JA tells Bernardo he doesn't know how he is going to get the money. They also talk about Pablo and Maria. Federico tells JR that Maria met somebody in Cartagena. JR tells him not to worry. But Federico says he's not sure he wants to marry a woman who can so easily fall for somebody else. Cindy tells Doña Tulia, la madre de Santiago, that he met another woman in Cartagena. But she swears that she will marry Santiago. Doña Tulia tells her not to pressure him, he doesn't like that. Pablo and his men learn what his boss has discovered so far about the attackers. Herminio reports his faults, his lack of responsibility, his disappearance from his post. Federico tells Rodolfo that JR has to get those lands. Federico doesn't understand what more Maria could want: he is an expert in all sports. In addition, he has to marry her, to get the money to pay back what he stole from his family, before they find him. Federico tells Rodolfo that a few months after the wedding, he will tell JR that his family is going bankrupt and JR will help him out. Herminio tells his Colonel the whole story. The Colonel says he must take into account that his subject helped and encouraged him. The Colonel tells him that if it were any other person, he'd fire him and tell all the other agencies not to hire him. In a way, he admires how he pulled it all off, but the Colonel tells him he is going to be transferred and if it ever happens again.... Cindy asks Jenny about her brother Pablo. Cindy tells her father Don Rafael about Herminio's meeting another woman. Antonio tells his wifeLigiathat he won't feel safe without Pablo as his permanent guard and with her shadowed by Nestor.Ligiasays it is very expensive. Rafael talks to Doña Tulia about his daughter and her son. Rafael wants an explanation or the wedding is off and Herminio must pay him every penny he owes. Pablo tells Antonio he can't continue with him; he is being transferred because he had to tell his Colonel all that happened. Antonio tells him he will take care of it. Pablo thanks him but tells him that anybody else could do the job. Antonio talks with the Colonel who tells him he did wrong; he should have forced Pablo to tell the truth. Antonio tells the Colonel that in spite of his being in love, he saved his life. The Colonel agrees to let Pablo stay, provided that Antonio not help him like this again, and if he makes a single mistake, he's out. Maria tells his parents that Federico is not the right man for him, that she is the only one who knows what can make her happy. JR's wife tells him that they can't force her to marry. JR says that any man who would miss a date because of a stomach ache isn't worthy of his daughter. JR tells his wife he doesn't have time to find another husband for Maria, Federico is the one for her. Federico tells Rodolfo that he is going to marry Maria but his strategy will be to break up with her, so she has to beg him to come back.
Lunes 04 de septiembre María le propone a Pablo turnarse los viajes entre Miami y Bogotá para que puedan verse cada fin de semana. Sofía escucha la explicación de Antonio pero no lo deja entrar a su habitación. Antonio le dice a Pablo que no puede ser tan irresponsable y él le responde que ya no importa porque él no la va a volver a ver jamás. Silvana le dice a María que por su actitud no sería raro que Pablo y ella estuvieran juntos en el yate. Martes 05 de septiembre Gabriel le cuenta a José Ramón que su hija salió la noche anterior con un hombre. Antonio y Pablo llegan a una joyería de la ciudad y él recuerda que María quiere un juego de esmeraldas, pero al preguntar el precio de un collar queda muy deprimido por no poder comprarlo. Pablo se encuentra con María en el embarcadero y allí decide aceptar el ofrecimiento que le hizo Antonio para llevarse el yate a Islas del Rosario. Miércoles 06 de septiembre Antonio le dice a José Ramón que los floricultores no le van a vender sus tierras a alguien que no sea de su misma clase. Pablo le dice a María que regresen a Cartagena porque quiere llegar a la Clausura del congreso. Cindy le dice a Jenny que Herminio le hace mucha falta y que está segura que él no seria capaz de serle infiel. Jueves 07 de septiembre Pablo le dice a Alvaro y a Néstor que se enamoró de María y por eso inventó todo el cuento de que era un millonario. María le cuenta a Silvana que la paso espectacular con Pablo en el yate y ella le pregunta que si esa relación es seria. Antonio le aconseja a Pablo que no vaya a la cita con el padre de María porque de inmediato se darían cuenta que no es un floricultor.
Viernes 08 de septiembre Gloria se encuentra en el aeropuerto de Cartagena con Ligia y le dice que vio a Antonio en compañía de Sofía Arbelaez. Janeth llega a la habitación de Antonio mientras él está con Sofía y se queda con ellos. José Ramón le dice a María que el hombre que conoció es un grosero porque no se tomo la molestia de avisar que no podía cumplirles la cita. Ligia le dice a la recepcionista del hotel que no la anuncie porque ella quiere darle una sorpresa a su esposo. Lunes 11 de septiembre Antonio le ofrece a Pablo el teléfono de la oficina para llamar a María a Miami. María le dice a José Ramón que no se va a casar con Federico porque no lo ama. Cindy le dice a Jenny Paola que el sexo es lo más importante en una relación. Federico le prepara una bienvenida a María mientras la mamá de Pablo también decide recibir a su hijo pero a su manera. Martes 12 de septiembre Federico se pone de mal genio con María y le pregunta si salió a rumbear en Cartagena. Cindy le muestra las facturas de lo que compró a Pablo y él le dice que le preocupa que sus ahorros no le alcancen para pagar todo. Ligia se altera cuando Antonio le dice como consiguió que los dueños de las tierras no se las vendieran a José Ramón. Ana queda algo sorprendida con lo que le cuenta José Ramón y él le dice que es necesario convencer a su hija que Federico es el tipo que le conviene. Miércoles 13 de septiembre Cindy se pone histérica con Pablo cuando éste le cuenta que conoció a otra mujer en Cartagena. Federico sale de la casa de María muerto de los celos y José Ramón le dice a su hija que se va a arrepentir de la decisión que tomo. Antonio le dice a Bernardo que sabe como sacar de su camino a José Ramón Alcalá. Cindy le dice a Tulia que a pesar de todo Pablo se tiene que casar con ella. Pablo le cuenta a El Coronel todo lo que pasó en Cartagena y él no le cree nada de lo que le dice. Jueves 14 de septiembre Bernardo le dice a Antonio que no puede dejar ir a Pablo porque él es el tipo que necesitan para cubrirles la espalda. Rafael se entera que Pablo conoció a una mujer durante su viaje y le dice a Cindy que necesita hablar con él. María llama a la empresa de su papá, habla con Karen y le dice que si la llama Pablo Guerrero le de el teléfono de su casa. José Ramón y María discuten acerca de su relación con Federico y ella le dice que por primera vez va a decidir sobre su vida. Viernes 15 de septiembre Cindy le dice a Wilson que después de 9 años de noviazgo, no va dejar que nadie le quite a su casi esposo. Pablo le dice a su mamá que la muchacha que conoció en Cartagena lo puso a pensar que él no puede seguir con Cindy. Federico le dice a Rodolfo que María está que se muere por él y que quiere ir impecable a la cita con ella. Cindy le dice a Pablo que le perdona todo lo que le hizo y que sigan su relación como si nada hubiera pasado.

USA 7/22-26/02. Antonio tells Pablo he spoke with his Colonel and all is well. Pablo admits to his mother that he met another woman. She tells him he is to be married in a month, that Cindy has bought furniture, clothes, etc. Then she tells Pablo that Don Rafael is demanding payment. Pablo admits that he spent more than half his savings on the woman because she is rich, that he lied about himself. Federico calls Maria; at first she thinks it is Pablo. He is sure that she was waiting for his call. Pablo's mother admits that Rafael loaned her a million pesos last year to help out his brother Cristian. Federico returns to Maria some books and other stuff she loaned him. He tells her it is time to break up and she agrees. That surprises him. She asks him to forgive her, but when he does says it doesn't mean that she is going to marry him. Cindy tells Pablo she forgives him; he tells her he isn't going to marry her. Cindy doesn't believe him, they've known each other all their lives, have been novios for 6 years. Palo tells Antonio he has called off his wedding.
7/23/02. Pablo reads in the papers of Maria's wedding and assumes that she lied to him about calling it off. So, when she calls him at the office, he has the secretary tell her he is dead and that is what the secretary does: tells her that Pablo told her to say that he is dead. sMaria admits to Silvana that she was a virgin, but Pablo probably thought she was fast.Pablo tells Cindy he will pay her father somehow. When she mentions his savings, and guesses he spent them in Cartagena, he tells her that Cristian, his brother, asked his mother for 1 million pesos and Cindi's father made the loan, much more than he has in his savings. Antonio calls Janet Martin while his wife is in the office, so Janet doesn't quite understand his responses. She is angry about what happened in Cartagena and tells him she won't lift a finger to help him. JR overhears her side of the conversation.
7/24/02. Pablo confronts Cindy about all her preparations for the wedding, repeats that he isn't going to marry her and will pay back her father the next day. She threatens suicide; at first he tells her to go ahead then says she isn't the type of person to do such a thing. Lijia calls Janet Martin, in spite of the secretary Susanna's efforts to prevent it, and learns that the contract has been cancelled and that her husband knows why. When Antonio returns with Bernard and learns about the call, he enters her office and tells her "it isn't true", thinking that Janet told her about the two of them. When Antonio sees her confusion, he has her go first and learns about the cancelled contract. He calls Janet who records the call and directs it toward the personal. She refuses to change her mind. Federico pretends he has no interest in Maria now and her father encourages her to believe it in the hope that she will become jealous and change her mind. Pablo asks his Colonel for a loan so he can pay off Cindi's father.
7/25/02. Bernardo tells Antonio they can't find a buyer at this late date for Valentine's day flowers. Pablo tells his mother about his problem with Cindy. At the same time, JR needs a buyer for his flowers. Maria viists Federico. He tells her that he promised more money to her father than he has. She discovers that her picture is gone; he tells her it hurt to much to see it but he is managing. Then he takes a call from Caroline and excuses himself, has a lunch date. Federico leaves with a friend and introduces Maria. Federico assures Rodolfo that he and Maria will marry eventually. Maria has lunch with her father and afterwards tries to return her engagement ring to Federico. He refuses to accept it but finally does with the wish that she might accept it later. Antonio calls JR and offers to sell him his flowers.
7/26/02. Federico tells Rodolfo to sell the engagement ring so he can pay off his credit cards. Pablo hears Bernardo tell Antonio that he has the best way of revenging himself on JR: just tell him that his daughter slept with his bodyguard. Bernardo tells Antonio he needn't care about Pablo's reaction, he's just an employee. Antonio opens the door and finds Pablo there. Pablo tells Antonio now he understands everything, doesn't know how he could do something so low, that he had not right, etc. Antonio tells Pablo that Cartagena was just a weekend adventure for Pablo, but the information is critical to him. When Pablo tells him it was una relación limpia, Antonio reminds him that he would have gotten nowhere with Maria if not for the help that Antonio gave him. Bernardo isn't bothered by Pablo's pain, but Antonio is upset. Jenny talks to Wilson but can't get his attention. JR calls Antonio who tells him he has some information that will interest him. But he loses courage and tells him that he asked Ligia to call him, but she refused to deal with a person of his type. He tells JR that she remembers him as un tipo de the worst. Ligia doesn't understand why JR won't buy the flowers. He tells her that he has never forgiven him for the fact that Ligia preferred him. She says what can he expect, after what he did to her and her family. Jenny follows Wilson, sees him knock on Julianne's door, thinking the note from her to meet him in the park. She doesn't understand why he thought it was she since she doesn't know him. He tells her he knows her, is the brother of Cindy. Cindy calls the office looking for Herminio. Cindy calls back for Antonio, when she learns he is there assumes that Pablo must be there too and just doesn't want to talk to her. She accuses Susanna of being the woman in Cartagena, tells her to tell Pablo she'll do what she said she would. She takes a handful of pils and lies down.
JR tells Federico about his history with Antonio's family, He worked for Ligia's father, was gerente de finance, started dating Ligia.Ligia's father objected to the relationship in spite of all the things that JR invented to make the company appear better than it was. Then the father used that information to fire him. Later, he learned that Antonio had arranged everything so he could end up with Ligia. She believed her father and Antonio and turned against him, went away where JR couldn't follow. Since her father is dead, he wants to revenge himself and Antonio and his whole family. Cindi's father finds her unconscious and calls Pablo. They take her to the hospital where the doctor tells them that she took an overdose of pills, apparently a suicide attempt. When Maria calls Federico, he has the secretary tell her he has gone out. Then he arranges for a noisy background, calls her so she thinks that he is out with somebody else, as she does.
Lunes 18 de septiembre Federico le reclama a María por lo que le esta haciendo y por echarlo de una manera tan miserable. Cindy le dice a Pablo que no es malo pensar en progresar, pero que él va a seguir siendo Herminio Guerrero toda la vida. Antonio le dice a Pablo que invite a salir a Susy, pues con ella no va a tener problemas de plata. Federico le dice a Rodolfo que si no se casa con María no podrá pagarle a su familia todo el dinero que les debe. Martes 19 de septiembre Milady le pide el favor a Jenny que le diga a su hermano, que siente mucho que se vaya a casar con Cindy. Silvana le dice a María que el amor de Federico le parece ridículo y que se cuide de él porque debe estar planeando algo raro para desquitarse. Antonio le manda una carta a Janeth con una propuesta para incrementar los precios de las flores en San Valentín. Cristian le dice a su mamá que no se preocupe por la plata que le deben al papá de Cindy. Viernes 22 de septiembre Cindy le advierte a Pablo que si la deja ella se mata, porque le parece injusto que después de tantos años se porte tan mal con ella. Ligia habla con el gerente del banco y le dice que en tres días cubrirá el sobregiro que le hicieron. Pablo le pide permiso a Antonio para hablar con el coronel sobre un préstamo que necesita.
Lunes 25 de septiembre Pablo le pide al Coronel que le preste dinero para pagarle al padre de Cindy. María le confiesa a Silvana que se siente sola. Jenny le pide a Cindy que le aconseje como conquistar a un hombre. Janet graba la llamada que le hace Antonio y le confirma que el pedido está cancelado. María llama a Federico quien le dice que debe luchar por el amor del hombre que conoció en Cartagena. Wilson recibe una nota de Jenny. Martes 26 de septiembre Ligia le pregunta a Antonio qué fue lo que le hizo a Janet para provocar que les haya cancelado el pedido. Antonio no encuentra a quien venderle sus flores y José Ramón a quien comprárselas. Cindy le advierte a Jenny que Wilson aún la ve como una niña. María visita a Federico y siente celos cuando lo ve salir a almorzar con una golfista. José Ramón ayuda a Federico a darle celos a María. Miércoles 27 de septiembre Rodolfo le aconseja a Federico vivir más modestamente, pero éste se ofende. Federico se las ingenia para quitarle el anillo de compromiso a María. Cindy piensa en una salida peligrosa a su problema con Pablo. Antonio y Bernardo hablan de cómo utilizar a Pablo contra José Ramón, sin darse cuenta que el escolta los está escuchando. Pablo se siente destrozado. Jenny y Wilson se encuentran. Jueves 28 de septiembre Antonio le cuenta a José Ramón algo que lo enfurece. Cindy llama a la empresa y acusa a Susy de ser la mujer que tuvo un romance con Pablo en Cartagena. Jenny se molesta al ver que lo único que logró fue acercar a Wilson y a Johana. Rafael descubre a Cindy sin sentido y busca la ayuda de Pablo. José Ramón le cuenta a Federico la historia de su odio contra Antonio. Pablo le cuenta a Rafael que había roto su compromiso con Cindy.

USA 7/29/02-8/2/02. Cindy begs Pablo not to leave her, promises to make him happy. Pablo tells his Colonel about Cindy. He tells him he shouldn't marry Cindy in these circumstances, she is blackmailing him, needs help. Pablo asks him for a transfer, explains that Antonio was using him. The Colonel, after talking with him a bit, (and reminding him that by telling lies to Maria he was showing a lack of respect for himself) agrees. Cindy admits to her father that she took the pills just to frighten Herminio, knew they wouldn't hurt her. He asks her what she will do if he leaves her after the wedding; she tells him not to worry, she can handle him. Wilson tells Cindy what she is doing is wrong. Rodolfo tells Federico he hasn't been able to get the flowers he promised to José Ramon. Federico tells JR that, so far, he has only been able to get 30% of the flowers. JR becomes furious, tells him to get all the flowers by the next day or he is fired, that this is a matter of business, has nothing to do with the personal. Alvaro tells Antonio that he is going to guard the President and is, besides, very resentful. Antonio tells Alvaro that he will take care of Pablo. Cindi's father and Herminio's mother talk about the wedding. Cindi's father doesn't want his daughter to become the butt of jokes. Antonio calls the Colonel who tells him his philosophy: there must be empathy between the guards and the client or the client's safety will be compromised. If he can't accept that, he will have to hire a different firm.
7/30/02 - Janet tells JR she's worried about being able to supply the contracts, thinks she was wrong to cancel Antonio's contract. JR tells her not to worry. Antonio visits Pablo and they talk. Antonio tells Pablo he has nothing to lose now, but he (Antonio) has much to win. Pablo accuses him of taking advantage of somebody just because he is only a bodyguard. Finally, Antonio accepts that he was wrong, promises JR won't learn the truth from him. Federico tells Maria he hasn't been able to buy all the flowers, and if he loses his job, he'll have to go home. Maria tells him she is confused about her feelings but doesn't want him to leave.Maria gives Fede her credit card until he finds his wallet. Antonio meets Pablo's mother who tells him off, nicely. Pablo tells Antonio that his father died 15 years before and his mother raised three children. Antonio asks Pablo to work for him, will have the opportunity to be something more than a bodyguard. Antonio says he won't accept a replacement, will keep the job open for him. When Pablo talks to Cindy about pursuing una careera, she tells him to be satisfied with what he has. JR tells Maria he no longer considers him a good prospect because he failed to do what he promised. If Federico can get the flowers by the next day, he will change his mind. Rodolfo gives Fed the bad news:only 18% of the flowers needed. Several backed out, the result of Antonio's call for solidarity. Maria decides to call Pablo to help out Federico. Pablo introduces his mother to the Colonel to talk over what is best for him, They agree tgat uf ge usb;t certain about Antonio's sincerity, he shouldn't go back. Wilson tells Pablo not to marry Cindy if he isn't sure. Wilson invites Joanna_ out, to the place she suggests, which means he needs a car. Jenny watches. Pablo goes to Antonio's office and Susana tells him the business is in dire straits because of Janet Martin and lots of people may lose their jobs. Then she gets a call from Maria who asks Pablo to sell her father the flowers he needs. Pablo tells her he doesn't have anything that she needs. She doesn't believe him, thinks he is saying no because he doesn't like her. Maria tells Silvana she can't believe how her father talked about Federico. Pablo tells Antonio he isn't going back; Bernardo enters the office and tells him they can't find a buyer. Ligia needs a driver but Alvaro is tied up and Nestor is picking up his son; Pablo offers to drive LIgia. Alvaro and somebody else both tell Pablo how bad the situation is. Wilson's father tells him it is better for one person in the house to manage the money, and that is he. So Wilson doesn't get as much as he wants. Alvaro tells Pablo he can solve Antonio's problem. Jenny asks Cindy to do something to the car to keep Wilson from going out with Joanna. On the wayto the airport Ligia starts to cry because of the business problems.

8/1/02. -Antonio has Pablo attend the meeting re the flowers and the losses. Pablo, after hearing all the bad news, interrupts and asks to talk with Antonio privately, tells him about Maria's call and agrees to put Antonio, under a false name, in contact with Maria. Jenny sees ? kissing J?. JR looks for Federico but can find only Rodolfo who tells him that Maria called Federico. Rodolfo tells him they've found only 20% of the flowers. Federico suggests to Maria that if they get back together her father won't fire him. She says no, then admits she would like to, but not to save his job, needs time to be sure of herself. Antonio thanks Pablo, shakes his hand. Federico gets angry with Maria, tells her to forget about him. Antonio tells the board that Pobre Pablo had a silly idea, but while they were together Janet Martin called and asked to buy the flowers.Maria's mother tells her that JR worked in her father's factory, a friend, Ligia, introduced them, they fell in love and married. Antonio gets a scare when Ligia tells him she left a message for Janet Martin, wants to thank her. Antonio and his mother greet their son Alejandro who complains that he doesn't want a bodyguard and the one he has (Nestor) is after Paola (when it is the reverse). Pablo goes to Cindi's home to pay back her father, but she practically attacks him. In between her unwanted embraces, he gives her the money. Ligia tells Antonio they must be more strict with Alejandro. He implies that the problem is that his mother spends too much time working. As Cindy drags Pablo toward her bedroom, he knocks over a vase of flowers and wakes her father Don Rafael. Cindy gives her father the money and suggests he go back to bed, but he wants to talk with Pablo, tells him he has lost confidence in him because of what almost happened to Cindy. He demands to know if he is going to marry Cindy.
8/2/02 - Federico starts packing. Antonio tells Cindi's father that he is going to marry her. Antonio convince Pablo to call Cindy, coaches him through the call. Maria tells Federico she's got the flowers, tells her the name of the person and company. Federico asks for more details. Maria tells Federico not to tell her father it was she who found them. Bernardo tells Pablo the worst that can happen if he doesn't take the job with the president is that he will be killed, but if he stops working for Antonio, Antonio will be ruined. Pablo tells his colonel he can't start working for the President because he has something to do for Antonio, needs just a week. Pablo explains and the Colonel tells him he will try to arrange things. Fedrico goes to JR's office expecting to be fired, but JR has changed his mind. So, now, Federico acts the "aggrieved". Federico lies about how he got the flowers.
Viernes 29 de septiembre Cindy obliga a Pablo a hablar del tema del matrimonio. Silvana le dice a María que Federico debería comprarle las flores a Pablo Guerrero. María y Silvana discuten por Federico. Antonio y Ligia se preocupan porque Pablo no ha vuelto a trabajar con ellos. Cindy le confiesa a su familia que sólo quiso asustar a Pablo. El Coronel se entera lo que Antonio le hizo a Pablo y le ofrece trabajar con el presidente de la república. Lunes 02 de octubre José Ramón le da un plazo a Federico para que consiga las flores o de lo contrario espera su carta de renuncia. Alvaro le dice a Antonio que lo mínimo que él puede hacer por Pablo, después de lo que le hizo, es pedirle perdón. Antonio le exige al coronel que Pablo sea nuevamente su escolta personal. Jenny le niega a Wilson que está enamorada de él y le dice que ella planeó la cita en el parque con Johana. Martes 03 de octubre Federico le dice a María que si pierde su trabajo volverá a Colombia. Cindy le dice a Pablo que no quiere que él vuelva a trabajar con su antiguo jefe. María intercede por Federico ante su papá y le dice que le parece injusto que lo eche de su trabajo. Wilson le propone a Herminio que se vaya con él para Estados Unidos. María le dice a Silvana que va a llamar a Pablo para ayudar a Federico a solucionar su problema. Miércoles 04 de octubre María llama a Pablo para pedirle flores, pero él no le da ninguna solución y termina furiosa. Wilson llama a Johana para confirmarle su cita pero ella sale con exigencias que lo desaniman. Pablo le cuenta a Alvaro que va a aceptar el puesto con el presidente. Jenny le pide a Cindy que le diga a su papá que no le preste el carro a Wilson. Ligia le pregunta a Pablo sobre su enfermedad, pues está extrañada de que se haya recuperado tan rápido. Jueves 05 de octubre Pablo interrumpe una reunión de su jefe para contarle que María lo llamó para decirle que su padre necesita tres millones de tallos. Federico le cuenta a Rodolfo que María está que se muere de las ganas por volver con él. María le cuenta a Ana que no aceptó volver con Federico. Bernardo le dice a Antonio que Pablo se enamoró de la persona perfecta, pues siempre lo saca de apuros. Viernes 06 de octubre Ligia le dice a Antonio que tienen que ser más duros con Alejandro antes que se les salga de las manos. Cindy trata de seducir a Pablo, pero él busca la forma de despertar a Don Rafael para que no pase nada. Alejandro accede a tener un escolta, pero solamente por dos meses. Antonio le pide a Pablo que haga todo lo posible para que Ligia no se entere de que los ayudó con la venta de las flores.

USA 8/5-9/02. Federico thanks Maria, asks if he still has a chance with her. She says yes, but he is upset when he discovers that Pablo wants to negotiate directly with her. Antonio and Bernardo tell Susy not to tell Ligia about Pablo and the flowers. Maria calls Pablo to make arrangements; he, prompted by Antonio, tells her he needs a 20% advance, in dollars. Antonio and Bernardo tells Pablo they will teach him everything they have to know. Then they find out that Maria will be coming with her fiancée and wonder what they should do. Federico objects to Maria's taking a bodyguard until he learns that Ferné was with her all the time in Cartagena. Wilson tells Cindi's father that he is resigning. Federico asks Ferné for information about el tipo that Maria met in Cartagena. Ferné tells him he can't say, can't betray Maria. When Federico tells him that Maria confessed she spent all her time with Pablo Guerrera, he admits it is true. Then Ferné answers his other questions: age, appearance, etc., rich, sensible (even let the guards eat with them). Bernardo and Antonio start to teach Pablo. Antonio says he isn't so bad, but first, he must be relaxed.
8/6/02 - Federico convinces JR that it is not a good idea for Maria to go with him to Colombia, but when JR tells her he has changed his mind, she tells him that she is 23 and has her own money, appreciates his opinions, but is going to go to Colombia. He assures her that it was not Federico's idea. So, Federico tries to convince her directly but not only fails, ends up agreeing to pay for her passage! Antonio and Bernardo teach Pablo how to eat, with many questions from Pablo (why?) And snide remarks from Bernardo. Later, Cindy and Pablo's brother Cristian make fun of his new table manners which Pablo explains as being part of a course he is taking prior to becoming security for the President. Wilson tries to find a job but can't and returns to his father's shop. Then, however, he talks again with Cristian and tells him he accepts his "offer". Antonio and Bernardo next try to teach Pablo about the business, why the flower business in Colombia is so good (cheap labor, good climate), that it is second only to Holland worldwide. Federico tells JR that the sellers want 20% in advance. JR thinks that makes sense and tells Janet Martin and her associates. Janet is curious about where the flowers come from, wonders if they could be Antonio's, accepts JR's explanation but refuses to pay anything in advance. JR tells Federico there will be no money until the flowers appear and he must deal with it. JR sees Federico and Maria kissing. Meanwhile, Cindy tires to seduce Pablo again and fails. He tells her that he had a relationship with the woman in Colombia. At first Cindy suspects he caught a disease. He tells her no, of course not, but he respects her. Cindy tries to pretend it doesn't matter that he has sex with a "fulana" but tells him that she has been faithful and expected the same from him. He promises her that soon things will be as they were before and says goodnight, with a peck on her cheek.
