Exhilarating OV7 Show Debuts M3D/M2D in Mexico

The high-energy Latin pop of OV7 is selling CDs from the slopes of the Andes to the shores of the Mediterranean, not to mention among the growing Hispanic population of the USA. In their homeland of Mexico, the young septet commands a passionate following that surpasses that of long-established international superstars. In May, when devout fans filled Mexico City’s 10,000-seat Auditorio Nacional for four shows, OV7 presented a dazzling show with music of exceptional power and clarity—thanks primarily to the deployment in Mexico of a self-powered Meyer Sound system using M3D™ Line Arrays along with M2D Compact Curvilinear Arrays as downfill.

Using Meyer Sound MAPP Online™ (Multipurpose Acoustical Prediction Program) and the M3D Placement Calculator, the array was carefully configured to afford optimum coverage of the deep and wide venue. The top five M3Ds covered seats starting about 55 meters away from the stage to the very last rows nearly 80 meters away; the top cabinet was set at 10 degrees from horizontal, with progressive splays from 0 to 2 degrees in 0.5 degree increments. The bottom four M3Ds covered the front balcony seats up to about 35 meters from the stage, with FOH mix in this field at about 40 meters. Angles for these cabinets were set a 3, 3, 4 and 4 degrees respectively.

The system for OV7 at Auditorio Nacional was provided by Musica Moderna of Mexico City, with Luis de la Rosa serving as technician in charge. System design consulting was provided by Federico Peña, Gustavo Ferreyro and Salvador Castañeda of Meyer Sound Mexico, with Castañeda also on hand as a system engineer. Fernando Guzmán mixed the stage monitors for OV7.

“With the M3D and M2D, it was the first time I had mixed using a system that gives me exactly what I want—great sound quality, broad frequency response and even coverage with lots of power. I was very pleased in particular with the uniformity of coverage. I knew that what I was hearing at the mix position was heard in every seat in the venue.”

Ahora se dan cuenta de la ENORME producción (Calidad) que maneja OV7 en sus conciertos a comparación de Kabah?

Por algo OV7 sigue siendo reconocido en México y el extranjero.
