no it's not a spelling mistake, it't what my 3 yr old keeps asking for since returning from the quagmire that was blakey. can we go to blakey brridge, can't get to say ridge yet!
on a serious note my family really feels for Paul and his crew, any hassle and financial loss by ourselves and any one else is so insignificant in light of what they must(especially Paul)must be going through.
we arrived at blakey wednesday afternoon in sunshine, marvelled at the place, what a backdrop!! got tent up settled down to a few beers enjoyed the surroundings and the banter between other MA fans.
woke up thusday, weather taken turn for worse but still in high spirits. managed to watch all bands on main stage(gina and mersedes very good)while wife stopped in tent with 3 kids awaiting MA. suspected to be called off when announced hour break due to tech' probs.
walked round site had a beer or two, managed quick chat with some of the MA guys and girls even managed a visit into pub (took over two hours to get in)found out was cancelled. after chatting with wife and gutted kids tried to pack up tent, it was like trying to fly a 28ft kite. still got all in car(unlike some i did remove all rubbish from around the tent- most wasn't mine) travelled 220miles back home.
it's now sunday and hve just finished dying everything out!!!!!
we had no worse a time of it than anyone else but enjoyed the whole experience, not since Knebworth '84 have i been so wet and muddy at a gig, shame the weather spoilt the chances of more music.
very sorry to here about abuse and vandalism that paul , his staff, and his HOME recieved. rest assured that no true music fans would seriously contemplate any of this . as paul knows(better than me)MA have the best fans imaginable as can be seen by the heartfelt messages posted on this board.
i do hope that a blakey 2006 goes ahead ,( but i would understand if it didn't) but i feel something would need to be done to avoid the undesirable element that has left a bad taste in the mouth of the organiser. maybe tickets could only be purchased from partisipating bands gigs, fan clubs or at an organised MA convention so that only true fans got in. no on the day sales.
it was my first visit to blakey , my biggest dissapointment would be that it would be my last, besids ihave promised my 3yr old a return to blakey brridge.
PAUL if you do read this, you have the backing of lots of loyal fans of blakey and MA and certainly a few more so please , please take time to reflect on this , and lets hope 2006 blakeyfest goes ahead.
if there is any way i could help please feel free to contact me
all the best, steve & family |
