Unfiortunatly I have to start this thread with some sad news.
I came up to Blakey with my partner and 2 friends Kev & Tom, we camped over night and left Tuesday morning, about half an hour after leaving Kev started to have chest pains which become more serious. An ambulance was called as it was apparent Tom would not get to a hospital quick enough. Upon reaching Hull Hospital Kev suffered a massive heart attack and sadly passed away shortly after 1230 yesterday.
Despite being a huge MA fan Kev did not visit any of the forums nor did he go to many gigs, Blakey is the only venue he had seem MA play (about 5 times in the last 3 years) therefore to most of you he will be an unknown name however those of you who met him really would not forget his larger than life personality. For anyone at Monday nights gig he was the guy in the brightly coloured Jamaican Tshirt (red, orange, yellow, blue & green swirls)
I would just like to thank Paul and the band for giving us an awesome day and night, every gig there is special and this one was no different. I have some wonderful memories of our last day togeather, lots of jokes and stories by the fire capped off with a wonderful night of music and laughter.
I've just read your post and I'm shocked beyond belief. I'm so sorry to hear this news and my thoughts and sympathy go to Kev's family and all his friends - and I'm sure there are loads of you! The guy was a legend and I don't think I've ever seen him without a big grin on his face or doubled up with laughter. He may not have attended many gigs, but he always seemed to be at the Blakey ones and left a memorable mark on every one. I'm so pleased I got to have a laugh and joke with him on Monday night, even though it was at the expense of his ridiculous shirt...
I know the next few months are going to be really tough for you all, but please take comfort in the fact that so many people will be thinking of you all.
