that the need for a religion stems for the basic human need to feel like you are a part of something bigger, or that you belong.

If you indeed believe in a God, you then absolve yourself of s certain amount of responsibility (It's all HIS plan). You also don't have to face the fact that this life, may be all there is...

These people are followers. They need re-assurances, and a plan to function.

Take into account that most pychologists agree that better than 70% of the people on the planet are followers. Just as animals in the wild have a pack leader, and many followers, so do we humans as well.

Although these followers can be programmed to do anything (or to be anything), they will always follow what society dictates. They are therefore, not free thinkers, and are in actuality, denying their own selves.

That, to me, is Hell itself
