| B40 tophat weight with JM R6 spring - updateNovember 19 2006 at 6:30 PM | Chris Klindt (Login klickcue) YF | |
| This is a follow up of my posting of the brass spring guide below.
This is a copy of an email that I sent a friend on the progress of the B40 so that I don't have to type it again.:
---Looks like a 2.5 gram tophat with .3 inches from coil bound is the ticket for this R6 spring. I may still go up a little or down a little and see what kind of results I get but it is close and not too much need of messing with it. The lighter tophat shoots Kodiaks fairly well and the FTS and JSB really great.
I started out with a 33 gram tophat, coil bound. The recoil, front and back was excellent, the scope hardly moved. The shot cycle was way to slow and the groups where alright but nothing to write home about.
I then put a 20 gram tophat in with .3 inches from coil bound. Shot cycle getting better and the group size are starting to shrink.
Finally, the 2.5 gram tophat. The rifle has a fast cycle, a fast twitch. Final scope sighting moves a little bit but the pellets are grouping on top of each other.---
Also, if you haven't taken the trigger a part on the B40 do so. The trigger comes a part quick and easy, at least for me. Hone and polish all the sliding areas and grease. Grease the safety and put a little grease on the spring between the upper and middle sear, gets rid of the spring twang when the safety is released. The trigger sets a lot easier when cocking also.
