Spring guide for a B40

I finally removed my brass spring guide from my B40 that I posted about a while back. It is still going strong and showing very little wear. It has been the background for different tophat lengths and weights.

I am trying something different this time. I am using a Nylatron nylon guide. I have never had much luck with keeping plastic type spring guides going in a spring rifles for any length of time so I changed the style for the B40.

Basically, it is a spring guide post cut down to the spring ID and then opens up at the end to fit exactly into the socket in the trigger housing in width and depth. A washer made from nylatron sits on top of the trigger housing and separates the spring end from the trigger housing. In my mind at least, this will put the stress into the body of the tube and not into the final cut area at the joint.

Shot the rifle by flashlight into an 11 yard target for 5 shots which was basically a slightly open 1 hole group. Shot good and sounded good. I will now see if I can break it.

All of you have a Happy New Year!

Chris
