Are Crosman 22XX reservoirs interchangeable with the QB78 tube?

All this talk about extended CO2 tubes for QB78... Is it possible to replace the standard length QB78 tube with one of the longer reservoir tubes from a Crosman 22XX (or other) rifle?

If there are differences in the mounting and inletting holes/slots for the action, which locations are different in the Crosman part, and can these differences be altered to make it fit to the QB?

I don't want the replacement tube to match the barrel in length... just adding 5-6 inches would help increase storage capacity. If a standard length (but longer than QB) Crosman reservoir would work, that would be fine for me.

I have had a CO2 explosion accident with mods in the past, and the idea of coupling an aftermarket tube extension to my QB has me concerned. One piece designs are always safer, IMO.
