They can

November 16 2009, 11:15 AM

consider one sold to me for sure , hard to go wrong for a decent .25 at $250 , for a nice scope Combo deal from BEST . I keep a minimum of 700 FPS as my hunting gun rule for any rifle I use to hunt with , so after a decent tune that model 28 ought to put a good whackin on some game , not too mention pulverize some Shotgun Trap Clays out back on the target stand , hee hee hee . Im'e nearly excited about this !
Oh and hey , thanks Mike , your certainly an asset to the Industry , keep up the good work , its appreciated .

Thanks Mike

I was wondering how the barrels would be, if they might be slightly over or underbored. Good to know they used an LW blank. Any idea the FPS/FPE that can be expected? Do you plan on getting any to tune and sell?

Thanks again

Nathan

B28 in ..25 caliber

November 19 2009, 2:35 AM

Hey Mike. Since I am one of the people that asked for a B28 in .25... it is only fair that I put up or shut up. When you have a Mike Melick tuned .25 caliber B28 let me now... I will send you a US postal money order. I bought a tuned B26 from you in the past. Let me know.

That one I don't know about.....

November 16 2009, 5:05 PM

The 28 is made by Xisico so it's easy to talk to them. The 50/51 is made by BAM and thats a whole different company....

It can be done.

About 900 fps with 31 grain Kodaiks for about 60 FPE.

That's pretty impressive

November 17 2009, 8:42 AM

Ballistics Big Ed , wow ...I never realized a .25 is capable of that FPE ?
For a stock B-51 or B-50 it is about $320 non-scoped .
I am assuming here of course , but I assume a Modified B-51 into a .25 conversion from you from a stock B-51 in .22 to a .25 would make that price at least double for the work that would needed to be done , new barrel , regulated , the actual man hours , etc , etc ?
Or more ?
Waiting for Bam to make a big bore or bigger bore than a .22 in the B-50 series rifles may never even happen of course . Since Xsico is offering the B-28 soon in .25 for only $30 more than a standard .177 or .22 , it would be very nice if Bam would follow suit on the B-51 in a .25 .
Of course it would not be of the quality you put out or tuned out either , but cost would be good , and tuning from there would be a much less expensive proposition . Not sure I am patient enough to wait on Bam though for a .25 ? I would sure like to have one though in .25 and in 9mm ...........

Cheers, Alan

Actually, a B-50 re-barreled with a Lothar Walther barrel, new barrel band, and tuned would be $475 plus shipping.

Add in a regulator, and then yes, you are approaching double the base cost.

On-board Gauge

November 18 2009, 6:19 AM

I have sent out 1 gun with a prototype end cap with gauge. It currently belongs to Greg Davis.

When I start making them in quantity, the price will be $35, and that includes the gauge.

The tune would be $20, the L/W barrel is $100, and $35 for the machining. I will assume that your .22 barrel is factory, so you might want a barrel band for the larger and longer L/W. The bands are $20, and modifying the breech for interchangability would be $10.

Tuning for the .25 cal barrel will not have the effect on the .22 that you might think. The port in the .22 barrel will act as the transfer port and keep the .22 closer to normal.
