I sent an e-mail to abuse at aol.com and explained the problem I was having. It didn't bounce back so, theoretically, they got it. Haven't received a response from them yet, though.
The thing that's really upsetting is that that e-mail address includes my name (it's a hotmail account). Since I'm currently looking for a job, it's entirely possible that some pornographer is using my address to send their smut to those same people I'm applying to, using that e-mail address. It amounts to identity theft and there goes any chance of that job.
Figuring the spammer wouldn't likely have my OTHER hotmail account, I copied my returned message and tried sending it from that account. It was also returned from aol, undelivered. Since I have a non-hotmail account, I re-sent it from that one. Hopefully, my friend will get it. (The returned e-mail did have another address in it so I'll have to check and see if it's the same one.)
It's rather scarey, though, that both of my hotmail addresses would have been stolen.
This is a potentially VERY serious problem. Someone could commit a crime using your e-mail identity and it could come back to you.
The Secret Service is now handling cases of Intenet fraud (since they're part of Homeland Security). I think I'm going to contact them on Monday and ask about this. I may also call aol since they're local to me.
If I find out anything interesting, I'll post it here.
