Hi Lo (that's almost a pun!)
I don't know if I would make a statement at the very top of the page advising people that the page is huge, but worth waiting for. It's a negative. Apart from the top banner, which could be thinned, the text at the top arrived quickly enough on my 24.8 bps dial up connection, so visitors do have something to read while the bottom parts of the page load.
At the end of the day, the key outcomes you get from your site are more important than my opinion, or anyone elses. Are you making sales? Are you getting visitors? What's your conversion rate?
Enter your site URL into http://www.alexa.com
and see where it ranks in the search engines. Check your statistics with visits and see if those who visit are buying.
I've just finished reading Dr Ken Evoy's excellent ebook Make Your Site Sell, which is relatively cheap (certainly cheap for the number of pp and information it contains)and it contains heaps of clues on how you can boost traffic by optimising your site and advertising etc and ultimately increase sales. You can read about it here http://myss.sitesell.com/sitelink.html
Good luck with your site.
