Hey Yvonne,
This is how I do it:
Research:
» I first do a market research using wordtracker, forum sites, blogs etc.
» I spot a good niche with needs.
» I try to find out what this market needs and using these needs I create some bullet-points like:
"The cheapest software that has enabled a 15 year-old kid to build eyeball-catching flash animations."
Product Creation:
» I first create a sales letter using all these bullet points.
» I create the product using these bullet points as chapters.
» There are always some extra information which everyone can find easily and is not worth paying money. I use these to create a 20-30 page free report.
» I complete the sales letter and cover images for both the main product and free report.
Promotion Preparation:
» I create promotion materials like banners, forum signatures, press releases, email copies, articles, brandable reports, recommendation mails etc.
JV Deals:
» I search for people who are related to niche and have some kinda forum or blog or something an contact them and tell them that I'll be launching a product on a specific date and ask if they want to make money through my affiliate program. If they say yes I give them my promotion materials and keep them up to date with things.
Prelaunch Promotion:
» I generate a good and targeted keyword list and write ads using the bullet points and start advertising through google adwords. I use a similar sales letter and get visitors name and emails and build a "waiting list" for ready customers.
Strategy:
» I use my homepage for giving away that free report. I give it away in order to get the optin.
» I redirect the visitor to the main product's salespage after subscription. And this stands as a one time offer with a discounted price. I also give the prospect a chance to download only the free report. By the way, affiliates and JVs get commission for this one time offer.
» If prospect doesn't buy, there's an upgrade option for the main product but the price is higher than the one time offer. I follow up using autoresponder messages. After 3 follow up mails I make the main product available to the prospect at the discounted price. That's also a limited time offer.
Launch:
» I send frequent emails to JVs and prospects in the waiting list about the launch date.
» On the launch date and exact hour I open the doors and send everyone the last launch email like "Hurry Up! It's Live and It's Limited" etc.
» Keeping in mind, people who belong to a niche market always have like-minded people around. So, when someone gets the free report or buys the main product they automatically become affiliates and get promotion materials.
» I always give bonuses to first 100 buyers etc. and most of the times I limit the offer based on quantity or time.
» Using this strategy it's guaranteed to create a buzz. And when the buzz is over I keep promoting to my list of free members.
Another thoughts on JV
Even if the market is so small in size you'll always have a few competitors, always try to use them to your profit. Persuade them to co-operate with you. You can persuade your competitor to give your customers 50% discount or their product for free in return of subscription to their list.
You can always apply as their affiliate and promote their products to your ready to buy list of prospects.
These are all what comes to my mind, my first thoughts I mean. Everyone refers to this kinda strategies as secrets. And actually it is

This is really fool proof.
But as you can see the most important part is to get JVs for your campaign.
Anyways, hope you can make it.
Have a good day.
