Hi,
As many of you who tried to order this week will know,
our Order Form host was down for five days.
GTA Technologies, who we use for the secure server
ordering, received extensive spamming, and their
internet provider closed them down immediately.
It took GTA all that time to retrieve their accounts
and move their server. In the meantime they received
thousands of irate emails - mine included - all wanting
to know what was happening.
Because all their information was on the server, they
couldn't respond.
It was a most unpleasant position for them, and
serves as a reminder to us all to have a Plan B.
If you are a commercial enterprise, or even one that
offers essential services, you should have another
ISP lined up ready to go.
I have - it's essential! But I wasn't ready for the order
form host to crash... on reflection, it is one of the most
important parts of a commercial Internet enterprise.
The outcome of this problem was that I now have
alternative ordering hosts, and can switch from one
to the other as required.
Spamming is a real threat today. Protect yourself.
