Will Dotcom.au do the trick?February 16 2001 at 12:43 AM

Response to Dot-com means dot-success
Thank you for your advice.
I should of mentioned in my first post my concerns about starting a .com website in Australia.
As mentioned in the first post I will be marketing this Ebook in traditional forms of media(ie newspaper and magazines).
The biggest problem I can think of is that if the website I direct potential purchasing customers to is a .com company Australian people think it is just more American 'hype' and probably wouldn't bother either going to the site or purchasing the product.
If a website is a .com.au company it must be a registered Australian company therefore offering more 'credibility'.
Don't get me wrong I haven't decided which way to go and your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Do you feel what I am saying is correct or have I got it wrong?
I guess ultimately I would love to go global and I know that the idea's in my Ebook will be invaluable to retailers all over the world but I believe that the key to getting the business established will be in Australia. If that succeeds I will definately go global.
Having read the thoughts above do you still believe I should go .com initially?
