EBook options

I'm about to convert a book from a paper product to an ebook and am wondering what is the best route to go. I've almost completed Ken's "eBook Secrets" and it seems he leans towards a PDF. How do the products below compare to creating it in PDF format?

The book I'm going to be creating will have a lot of graphics, links and probably some sound affects used sparingly. The original book was written on an Atari which I don't have anymore [nor does amyone else I know] so I'll have to scan the original and will probably use Pagemaker to redo it. Does this lend itself to one of the options more than others?

Any help/suggestions that shared will be greatly appreciated.
