  • Millennium Air Fares Tidbit.

Just heard on the 7am radio news that air fares during December this year were doubling and tripling for UK travellers coming to NZ.

As many may know, my country - New Zealand - is one of the first places to see the sun in the new millennium. So airlines are capitalising on this once-in-a-thousand-years opportunity by hiking their prices up.

Now, here's a problem that begs a solution. And someone found it...

A few months ago a woman came to me with an idea she wanted confirmation on. It was an airline guide with a difference...if you wanted to go from any part of the world to another, her thoroughly researched guide would show the best route, but by using different airlines.

For example, you may find that getting from UK to NEW ZEALAND could be done cheaper than flying direct by using several independent carriers and taking advantage of special offers and discounts from these airlines. In many cases the longer, circuitous route actually proves to be the cheapest.

The guide is a clever example of turning existing information to a profitable advantage.

PS. I never miss the news. Because of my ongoing interest in reducing all work through automation, a simple off-the-shelf system ensures I never go without hearing the latest news. An electronic autotimer is hooked up to my radio and is set to catch the on-hour news every 2 hours...then it turns the radio off after. The sudden blaring makes any guests in my home office jump a bit...until I explain!
