You'll probably have to re-install either Acrobat or PageMaker (or both).
Before doing that, here's a couple of things to try...
(1) see if the export function works from the File Menu (File-->Export-->Adobe PDF) If it doesn't work, PageMaker may not be loading the pdfexport plugin... You can check that by pressing the CTRL key when clicking Help-->About. It will bring up a list of all components loaded. Look for ExpPDF.add - (If it is
loading it, you'll probably have to re-install Acrobat.)
(2) Run Distiller from the Acrobat directory or program menu without PageMaker running. If Distiller runs OK, you probably have to re-install PageMaker.
(3) Check to see if Acrobat runs OK.
Bottom line - if Acrobat and Distiller run Ok, re-install PageMaker. If they do NOT, re-install Acrobat.
I'm sure there are ways to just replace a file in either one of the programs, but I've always found that uninstalling and re-installing will also clean up a bunch of hidden problems - especially when dealing with Adobe products!
Maybe someone else has some better solution for you that won't involve uninstalling and re-installing, but this is how I handle my PageMaker/Distiller problems.
