Just recieved your book and welcome your professional approach to E-Books. I have a question regarding the use of the
Voice Recognition software. Do you record directly into PageMaker or do you use Word or Notepad for editing before moving the text into PageMaker?
With Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you can actually dictate into any text-based application. This includes Microsoft Word, NotePad, or even directly into your email screen.
I used WordPad for eBOOK SECRETS. Each file represented a section of a chapter, and thus remained relatively small in size. WordPad has the advantage that I could retain all the formatting such as tabs.
Dragon also has a text editor which is easier to dictate into. I used it on occasion, then copied and pasted into WordPad.
I did this because sometimes in other programs - depending on the memory availability at the time - Dragon will not put caps at the beginning of a sentence, or put a natural Word space break when I insert another word into the sentence.
Any good software that is available for the Mac? I am just getting ready to start looking. Not that I really want to use it, but due to recently learning that I will not be able to use my left arm in the near future. I found out that due to radiation treatments I had (for cancer) 30 years ago has damaged my muscles.
Anyway, I know that you are or were a Mac user and thought you might know of one. I think I heard that Dragon was coming out with a Mac version.
Yes, you are right about a forthcoming product for the Macintosh... I believe a Mac version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking is due out at the end of the year.
PowerSecretary has been available for the Mac over the last few years, but it was an expensive product and I believe had quite a few shortcomings.
With the advanced features of NaturallySpeaking, and hopefully a lower price, I think it will be a winner - particularly with the power of the G4's.
I think you would find this product a real advantage... it has taken the sci-fi promise of speech to text and made it very real.
