What E-books Are YOU Working On Today?...

August 19 2000 at 11:58 AM

Here's a question for all our forum readers - what e-book projects are you working on at the moment? Why not post and let us all know... you never know what useful information you could get from others here to help you along with getting started, getting motivated, or getting published.

Be as specific as you like, or general if you want to protect your ideas. Look forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,
Ken Silver

My first E-book

August 20 2000, 12:50 AM

Hi Ken,

I have read "eBook Secrets" (it came as a part of "MYKS"). And I am just now starting my first e-book. It is a book based partially on the philosophies and principles of Robert Kiyosoaki of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" fame. But it is also a "how to" book based on my 25-years experience as a financial advisor.

I am, also, developing a new Web site (CashFlowResources.com)to market the book. Here are some tools that I am using or thinking about using:

1. I am planning to purchase Acrobat 4.0 to create the book in pdf. But what about the writing of the book and the layout? Should I use Page Maker? Frame Maker? MS Publisher? Corel Ventura 8? MS Word? I have Word. Any of the others I would have to purchase. Which one would do a great job and not have a long learning curve? It will probably be a long book (300 pages plus) with quite a few chapters.

2. I am going to offer an electronic newsletter at my site. What is a good service to use to automate subscriptions and managing the newsletter? I have downloaded a trial version of "PS Autoresponder". In Ken's book he talks about "Auto Mail". But I noticed he is now using "GetResponse". I have used a cgi script in the past to do that. But I don't know how to install cgi scripts. And I prefer not to have to rely on someone else to do it. Any suggestions?

3. I am going to have a discussion board forum. I have used "Webbs" in the past and it is fine. But again I had to get someone else to install it and make changes when I needed them. This free forum that Ken uses seems to work fine. And I would have more control. Any suggestions there?

I think that will get me started. Thanks for asking the question, Ken. Your e-book is great!

Larry

Best-Selling Booklet Converted To E-Book

August 20 2000, 2:30 PM

Hi Ken,

I'm currenty in the process of putting the finishing touches on the ebook version of one of my best selling "paper" booklets, HOW TO ERASE YOUR POOR CREDIT RATING.

I work offline as a Graphic Artist... but I also sell booklets in large quantities to corporations who use the booklets as promotional items. Between this booklet and another that I've written, my sales will shortly hit 100,000 copies.

Until recently, I never even considered converting my paper products into e-products. It wasn't until people started asking me for single copies... that I considered the ebook option. I just don't have to time to be fulfilling single order sales, so I'm going to use a service like Clickbank to automate the process.

I'm also creating a "How-To" booklet web site [dealing primarily with paper booklets]. The market for paper products is still huge. Thanks to the paper market, I've been able to buy a vacation residence. If I do half as well in the e-market, it'll be great!

Also, Ken, I've read your book - Ebook Secrets. So, I'm optimistic that everything will go well.

Wishing everyone continued success,
Jimmy Krug
