"3 Quick Solutions For Multiple Incomes."
By Ken Silver
2 October 2000
Last week I talked about the benefits of having multiple
incomes. It involved doing a bit more work in expanding
I bet a few of you groaned and said, "We're having enough
trouble getting time away from work to spend with our
family thank you," or "I haven't got the energy to start
another product/e-book/service at the moment."
Well, don't give up... there's several simple and quick ways
to achieve the multiple income gold medal. (By the way,
did you enjoy the Olympics?)
Remember I said that your business needed different
income streams to provide a smooth cashflow? But
sometimes the danger of doing this is that it may take
you away from your chosen occupation or interest level.
That's a common reason for failure with otherwise
We all have defined boundaries of interest and skills...
move away from those, and your diversification could be
costly in wasted energy and loose focus.
Do you recall my future son-in-law, the osteopath who
had a fluctuating patient list - and matching up-and-down
A couple of months ago he decided to do something
about it. He thought about installing a health spa in
order to help his patients recover quickly.
After a lot of thought, he decided not to follow through.
Because essentially the spa was a completely new,
different experience for him. He was a skilled therapist
- not a spa operator, and the two disciplines just didn't
He decided to concentrate on his core activity, and I'm
sure this will be better for him in the long term.
However, there is another way he could increase his
income split, and this is by using his knowledge to
teach others. So he is giving info-talks to some city
gyms. Though he is doing it in exchange for publicity,
the potential for profit is there when he wants to move
to a different level
So in your own net business, you could:
1) Work your skills into a new venue. Seminars are
the ideal way to do this... you are using the EXACT
skill-set that drives your current business.
Almost every knowledge-based business can do it.
Look for the book "How To Develop & Promote
Successful Seminars & Workshops" by Howard L
Shenson at your bookstore. Or see the excellent
online resource by experienced seminar and work-
shop authority Jan Noyes: http://www.howto4u.com
2) Split your products or services into different price
groups. I'm doing just that with my new hosting
project due out in a couple of days. There will be a
"Starter" pack, a "5-Page" pack, and so on up to
the full product. It's the same product but I split it
into various stages and prices to appeal to
If you do the same, you can name your steps in
recognizable segments like Silver, Gold, Platinum
3) Use a different media to promote your product...
say phone or television. Don't just stick to the usual
markets. Dot-com businesses are finding this out
right now, according to a recent "Business 2.0"
e-companies are returning to television and
print media for their publicity than ever before, in
order to be seen above the noise of search engines
There's some ideas to get you started! If you want to
begin straight away, take a look at the Authorized
Reprint Rights being sold above. These are excellent
vehicles to get you started with very little effort.
