Unranked wrestlers

There are wrestlers that are not ranked that should be. I know who they are. I need results. Two good teams that have wrestlers who should be ranked are South Windsor and Platt-Meriden. There are many others. Fans of these two schools seem to be the most disappointed by their non-ranking. I need at least one boxscore with the lineup and results from teams before I can evaluate. I can only work with what I have. Coaches and managers can report their results to Connecticut Wrestling Online at http://ctwrestling7.homestead.com/index1.html.

your right hardcastle did lose to a kid from ny (harbor fields)but there aint no shame in that cause for the most part wrestlers from ny are nasty. and for the match with solek he didnt get the decision but he did beat solek. The ref made a huge miistake its on video. Hardcastle will beat solek, abate, morowski and go. if they ever meet. I believe hardcastle will be top 2 in ecc's and the same in the LL's

I only posted this because 3 periods asked for the information to be posted about un-ranked wrestlers. If you read my post I did not say they should all be ranked I said "considered". How can someone rank top wrestlers if they don't have their records, I was just supplying information. And if you read again I mentioned the names of several boys who beat my boys. So that makes you wrong twice. Grow up and show some respect.

Coach, if anyone on this forum needs to grow up it may be you. There's a much more civilized way to go about expressing your differences in opinion in regard to other forum members. You put down these kids, most likely high school wrestlers, and see nothing wrong with it. They are expected to be immature, but it is not illwilled but rather in a humerous light. But what's worse is when you rationalize your rude behavior with word game semantics... emphasizing "considered" etc. to downplay what your really saying or doing. Just understand that from an outsider's perspective, it appears that you are an overly defensive coach that is promoting his own guys. Let your teams wrestling speak for itself. I'm sure if their records continue to shape the way they are, 3periods would not let them go unrecognized for the next batch of rankings. Good luck on the rest of the season.

Additional information. 140 Colin Donovan of Ludlowe beat Hogestyn on Seymour. The score was 4-0 in second period when Hogestyn got injured and couldn't continue. Hogestyn is ranked so Colin should be considered in ranking.

Coach, that post appears to me and im sure many other people as a very immature remark. as a coach of a high school wrestling team, you should demonstrate more respect for others. that kids post was completely unnecessary, but has some truth to it. you should know, as well as all the other coaches in CT and the rest of the world, that rankings do not mean anything at all. your kids will do all the talking for you on the mat. if they're as good as you think, then they should find their way on the rankings, and place at states and maybe even state opens. all that counts is what happens in the end, not what happens in the beginning. good luck to the rest of the season boys.

Re: Unranked wrestlers

while it is helpful when boxscores are reported to newspapers that publish them on-line, or to CT wrestling, or to PTW...if they don't get posted, it helps when anyone posts accurate information about wrestlers who are either unranked or are ranked below someone they have beaten. as has been requested, looks like the info includes wrestler's name, school, and record, including who any losses are to, as well as any victories over those ranked above. it was also the original intent of this thread, and while I am sure he knows that not all those kids will be ranked, having data doesn't hurt. It is much better than those who simply state "He should not be ranked" or "He should be ranked higher". Why? Who'd they beat that is ranked? Who'd they lose to, especially if it is someone unranked, since that person may be flying below the radar.

Re: Unranked wrestlers

January 12 2008, 7:36 PM

I should have been clearer about reporting results. I look for boxscores in many places. It is easier for me if they can be reported to CT Wrestling online. However, I do check the dated posts for results here on Pin-to-win and scour (sp?) many of the online newspapers. I also try to acquire completed tournament brackets. What I do not consider is who wrestlers have lost to and by how much. A loss to a person ranked above you doesn't hurt or help you. I don't care about loss differntials. They have no value in the rating system. Styles vary. So, losing to the #5 kid 4-2, while a guy ranked above you lost to that same kid by pin has NO effect. I also do not register injury defaults and "bad" calls. I hope this has cleared up some vagueness in my previous statements. The most value is a quality win. Beating someone above you is the quickest way into the rankings. The other ways require you depending on someone else to beat someone else to beat someone else...etc...etc.

I response to Brunosboy152.

I agree with what you said about rankings and how they are just that a rank. The only reason why I posted anything is that I feel 3periods tries to do a good job at this and he was asking for information. So that is all I wanted to give was information. Data, you know facts. If he does not know wrestlers records how can he rank them. If he does not know who beat who how can he rank them. I was not bragging about my team. No where did I say they should be ranked. Also, the word considered means exactly that considered. I don't care if they are ranked. I would much rather have them place in the states then be ranked on a web site. I do get a little defensive though when someone takes a shot at me or my team on this chat. But it is amazing how high school boys can get a pass when they insult someone or act immature. No one seems to be interested in how they act. When do we start holding children responsible for their words and actions. Should we wait after high school. It is to late then. The coaches that know me and know who I am and what I stand for, I will let them judge me. I am sorry if I sound a little tough when someone takes a shot at me. That is why I almost never post on this sight or even go on it that often and I encourage my wrestlers to do the same.

Unranked Wrestlers

No score for this post
January 13 2008, 10:29 PM

This thread started much earlier, but I agree with the statement that there are wrestlers who deserve to be ranked and aren't. As far as Colin Donovan of Fairfield Ludlowe goes at 140, he certainly has worked his way into the state's top 10. He won a good match this weekend vs. Barrett St. George of Guilford who's 16-4. Also, Ryan Scott of Xavier should be ranked in the states top ten. He beat Windham's 135 lb. wrestler (name?) who I believe is ranked in the top 3 in the state.

yeah i saw seymour wrestles a bunch of times.

plumb should be ranked, hes's pretty dominate and what not.

however there 103

103 - not that impressed, i meen he beat his kids with pins but he used the headlock on practically all of his pins.
quite frankly i dont think he could last a six minute match with a pretty good wreslter, but im not taking anything away from him and a win is a win.

Emmanualson 145

No score for this post
January 20 2008, 10:16 PM

Chris Emmanualson 145 with Xavier sat out for over month due to transfer rules to private school. In one weeks he is 8-0 with three pins 2-techs. Mabey its to early, but he also was something like 36-6 and medaled in LL's last year. The sitting out part really sucks when other wrestlers have 20 or more matches under thier belt. There nothing that can replace time on the mat.... Mabey he should get a nod in the rankings this Tuesday.
