What CT wrestlers have a shot at placing at Senior Nationals? Years past (early '90's) Connecticut would regularly have 4 or 5 guys place. TJ and Brandon did outstanding last year, does any of our wrestlers have a chance? Tyler Banks or Brock Cotou? Julian Hightower? Maybe even a long shot like CJ Satti or Nick Marouski have outside chances at placing. Any thoughts?

What years in the 90's did Connecticut regularly place 4 or 5 kids? One year CT placed Orville Palmer and Brett Wilderman(who placed 7th or 9th because a kid named Sean Hage from GA scared everyone from the 189lb class and there were only about 14 kids in the weight class). Hasn't Connecticut placed about 10 kids for the existence of the Nationals? Just Wondering.

OK okst, I should have said 3 or 4 ('91, '92) but both Goodwin and Gizzio wrestled those years in question, so i kinda like 4 or 5. CT may not have the tradition of oklahoma, but some of those guys could compete on a national level. Just wondering if our boys today can still compete. And although you already corrected yourself, the have been 17 CT AA that placed at senior nationals. But I'm not a nitpicker. Touche' none the less.
So to adress the question in my original post, seeing how you claim Connecticut placed wrestlers because the event was poorly attended by national caliber wrestlers, placement was easy(a valid point) but these wrestlers placed regardless, and the competition may have been more intense, not as shall we say, watered down like it is today. Perhaps there was a greater concentration of talent, as oppossed to a wider variety. Do any of our boys stand a chance. I think Banks or Cotou have the only legitimate shots, I think Hightower hasn't wrestled enough tough competition, save for his New England finals match, and at senior Nationals, half the kids there are going to be tougher than his finalist opponent. Do I think he can compete? absolutely, but I don't know if he's seasoned enough in close matches to pull out a tough one. That's why I like Satti and Marouski's chances, because they've been battle tested, humbled, yet risen to the challeng and won when it counts.

Well, if Wilderman's 4th (not 7th--that was Palmer) place was because everyone was running from some Georgia kid !!!??? , then a lot of those other early and mid 90s place CT placewinners must have placed because guys were running from Mississippi or Arkansas kids or something :) .

Over ten years ago it was easier to place there for everyone [not esay...just easier than today]. The competition level has come up a lot in the past 5-10 years.
