This is a Qualifier for the Gene Mills Eastern Nationals held April 3, 2009 in Baldwinsville, NY
This is a Qualifier for the Tournament of Champions held April 25, 2009 in Columbus, Ohio.

Date: Saturday, March 7, 2009. The tournament start time will be 9:00 am.
Location: Phoenix High School 552 Main St. Phoenix, NY 13135
Rules: Bout Time 1-1-1 Double Elimination Sudden Death Overtime 30 second ride-out
Modified N.Y.S.H.S.R. (Seeding Blind Draw)

Entry Fee: $20.00 paid in advance. Must be received by 3/4/09

New by popular demand we will return to Saturday morning weigh-ins this year to be held
from 7:00 am until 8:30 am on Saturday morning. Your failure to be at, or under your weight
given to us, forfeits your entry and your entry fee. Failure to give us your weight voids entry.

Weight Divisions: This is still a MADISON SYSTEM – You must give us your weight that
you wish to wrestle at on the wrestling form and then you have a two pound allowance from the
weight you have given us that you must be at or under at the weight-ins to be held on Saturday
morning from 7am until 8:30 am. Ages 13-14, 11-12, 9-10, 7-8, 6&under

three, one minute periods. Overtime one minute, then 30 second tie beaker if needed.

2009 Bennington Youth Northeast Wrestling Challenge

This unique tournament format attempts to pool wrestlers of similar ability.
All skill levels are encouraged to attend. This is one of the last chance qualifiers for the Gene Mills Eastern Nationals and the Ohio Tournament of Champions!

Date: Saturday, March 28th, 2009 Location: Mt. Anthony Union High School

Entry Fee: $20.00 Rules: High School rules. Periods 1-1-1

Divisions: I – Ages 6 & under III – Ages 9 & 10 V – Ages 13 – 15
II – Ages 7 & 8 IV – Ages 11 & 12

*ANY WRESTLER THAT PARTICIPATED AT THE JUNIOR VARSITY OR VARSITY HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO WRESTLE.

Pooling: 4 Person Pools Round Robin. (We attempt to pool wrestlers of similar abilities together in an attempt to get each wrestler 3 matches., however, on occasion this may not be possible due to factors beyond our control such as weigh difference, number of participants, incomplete or late entries etc..)

Awards: Trophies awarded for all wrestlers (1st-4th). Top 3 in each pool qualify for Ohio Tournament and all wrestlers will qualify for Gene Mills.

The Hampton Inn of Bennington is pleased to sponsor Bennington Youth Wrestling. Relax in the indoor pool, whirlpool, and sauna or work out in our state of the art exercise facility, to reserve, call 802-440-9862, and ask for a room from the WRESTLING BLOCK to receive the discounted room rate of $114 plus tax per room, per night. Room types are standard, and based upon availability. There will be a mandatory quite time enforced from 10:00pm-6:00am. Pool Hours: 6:00am-10:00pm for everyone, adults only 10:00pm-12:00pm. Rooms must be booked by February 24th in order to guarantee the special rate.

Our concession stand will be open for breakfast and lunch offering great food @ reasonable prices. Your patronage is appreciated!

Eligibility - Must be enrolled in high school with freshman eligibility.

8am-11am High School Nationals wrestler check-in,weigh-in,coach check-in and registration,

Weight Classes - 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 285

There will be one weigh-in for the entire event with a 3-pound weight allowance example: 103 weight class will be 106 pounds

You cannot enter a weight class below the weight class you wrestled during the 2008-09 State Dual Meet Championships or Individual State Championships. However, you can enter the same weight or any weight class higher. There is no penalty for going up a weight class onsite.

Matches - All matches will be 2, 2, 2 in the championship bracket. All consolation matches will be 1, 11/2, 11/2. There will be full wrestle backs for all consolation matches.

Awards - The top eight place finishers in each weight class will receive awards as well as official recognition as High School Freshman All-Americans. An outstanding wrestler as well as most falls in the least amount of time awards will be given at the conclusion of the finals. You must be present on the awards stand at the finals in order to receive your award. There will also be state team awards for the first top place finishers.

Team Scoring - The highest place finisher from each state will score for their state.

All coaches that plan to coach their wrestler must be a 2008-2009 members of the NHSCA. No other ogranization's cards will be honored.

Team Scoring - The highest place finisher from each state will score for their state.

All coaches that plan to coach their wrestler must be a 2008-2009 members of the NHSCA. No other ogranization's cards will be honored.

An outstanding wrestler award as well as the most falls in the least time award will be given at the conclusion of the finals.

State Team Awards - Each competitor will have the opportunity to score points for their state. The top three states will receive team awards and the winning state will take home the National Championship Cup to display at their State Championships.

ROUND ROBIN FORMAT WITH TWO SESSIONS
YOUNGER AGE GROUPS START AT 8:30am/OLDER AGE GROUPS START AT 11:30

WEIGH-INS: Honor Weigh Ins. To be done at your own school, club or home.
Tournament Officials can and will challenge any wrestler's weight
if they do not agree. Any abuse will result in disqualification of
the wrestler with no refund. Every effort will be made to place
contestants into 4-MAN ROUND ROBIN groups, which guarantees
3 matches. Weight groups will be made with an emphasis that the

The 3rd annual Youth New England Wrestling Championship 3/14/09

The 3rd annual Youth New England Wrestling Championship will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Marlborough High School, 431 Bolton Street, Marlborough, MA 01752

Representatives from all six New England states have agreed to participate in this event. The top three (3) wrestlers in 32 weight classes from each state will qualify to represent their state in the Youth New Englands. Wrestlers from each of the six states are required to participate in a state qualifying tournament and compete in the weight class at which they wrestled in the
state qualifier.
The Youth New England Wrestling Championship is sanctioned by USA Wrestling. All wrestlers and coaches must have a USA Wrestling card to participate. Cards are available online at www.themat.com. Entry fee is $30 per wrestler with USA card; all wrestlers are guaranteed a minimum of 2 matches.

Admission will be $5. Concessions and wrestling gear will be available on site.

State Championships will be used as qualifying tournaments. Out-of-state wrestlers are not permitted to participate in the State Qualifier for another New England States. State Qualifier dates and locations will be publicized and organized by each respective State Chairman in advance of March 4, 2009. After rosters have been submitted by the Wednesday, March 4th deadline, qualifying alternates will be permitted to register to fill spots through their State Director. All alternates must be registered no later than Monday, March 9, 2009.

Set Weights:
Novice Division - 1997 / 1998 birth years: 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 120, 130, 140, 165
Middle School Division - 1994 / 1995 / 1996 birth years: 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144, 152, 160, 175, 190, 210, 250

Wrestling:
Brackets of 18 will be formed in 32 set weight classes using a pre-determined seeding chart. This is a double elimination tournament, except where pigtails are needed for brackets with greater than 16 wrestlers. Period lengths: Championship bouts 2-1-1; Consolation bouts 1-1-1. Championship matches will be wrestled to determine place finishers for 1st, 3rd, and 5th place.

Wrestling will start at 8 AM sharp on Saturday morning. All weigh-ins will take place on Friday night, March 13th at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, 265 Lakeside Avenue, Marlborough, MA 01752 from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

Finals are scheduled to start at 5:00 PM, preceded by a Deluxe Wrestling Camp Raffle where several free trips to wrestling camps throughout the country will be drawn for those who enter the camp
raffle. Raffle entry fee will be $10 per ticket payable to WrestleSmart, Inc.

Pre-Registration:
Pre-Registration will take place through state representatives, upon qualification at the respective state-qualifying tournaments. State representatives will collect entry fees and compile information for all qualifying wrestlers for their respective states.
A State Pre- Registration Form should be completed by each state tournament director and emailed to apolansky@charter.net. All qualifying wrestlers MUST be pre-registered no later than March 9, 2009.

Entry fees should be paid in the form of one single check from each
state, payable to WrestleSmart, Inc., to be forwarded to Aaron Polansky, 197 Flint Road, Charlton, MA 01507.

Registration & Weigh-ins:
Registration and weigh-ins will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 from 5-9 PM at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, 265 Lakeside Avenue, Marlborough, MA 01752.
There will be no other registration / weigh-in locations. All wrestlers must be pre-registered at a set weight in order to weigh in. Wrestlers must produce age certification (a birth certificate) and a USA Wrestling Card in order to weigh in. Wrestlers who have not provided USA card numbers through their state directors will be required to purchase a USA Wrestling card prior to weigh-in.

Awards:
Tournament champions will receive an embroidered New England Champion sweatshirt. Top three place finishers will receive plaques.
Finishers 4th, 5th, and 6th will receive engraved commemorative medals.

Madison weights will be used for all age groups, both boys and girls, except Cadets and Juniors. Registration and weigh-ins begin March 21st from 7:45 am to 9 am. Open wrestler registration and weigh-ins begin March 21st from 11:00 am- 12:00 pm . Wrestling will start at or around 10:00am for Kids through Juniors; Open wrestlers will start wrestling about 12:30. Bouts will be 3 periods of 2 minutes for all wrestlers. Seeding will be done by blind draw but matches will be paired using double elimination line brackets. Medals for the top three finishers in each class. Six full mats will be used for this competition. During weigh-ins, all competitors will be inspected for skin rashes; wrestlers with skin rashes will not be allowed to compete unless they have a current doctor's excuse saying they are under treatment, are not contagious as of a specified date and are cleared to wrestle. Tournament officials reserve the right to refuse entry to questionable cases.
A 2008-2009 USA Wrestling card MUST be shown at registration. If you don't have a card, enclose an additional $35 with your registration and the USAW card will await you at the pre registration desk (NOTE: if wrestler is under 18 years old, their parent MUST sign the registration form if they are applying for a USAW card. This is an insurance requirement, and there will be no exceptions made). A USAW Card can be purchased at the tournament.

Weigh In
4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, March 20, 2009. Scratch weight is recorded for "Elementary School Age" division only. Others must make your weight class. ***Top 12 placers in HS division must weigh-in Saturday night after their last match, 2 lb. allowance.

Eligibility
Any girl/woman who is age 5 or older.

Elementary Division
For Grades K-1-2-3-4-5. High School rules. 3 minute matches: 1/1/1.
Blocked Weights during 2009 season.

Middle School Division
For Grades 6-7-8. High School rules. 4 1/2 minute matches: 1:30, 1:30, 1:30.

DATE & TIME: Sunday, March 8th, 2009 (mandatory check-in times noted below)
LOCATION: Freeport High School, 50 South Brookside Avenue, Freeport NY, New York 11520

REGISTRATION: Tournament will be limited to the first 350 wrestlers to register. Clubs should register as early as possible and if need be, submit weigh-ins at a later date. Must register by Monday, March 2nd 2009, by bring a completed application and $25 registration fee to Freeport High School between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM:

Make checks payable to: Freeport PAL, Inc.
A USA wrestling card is required and must be presented at registration
or on the day of the tournament. Cards must be purchased through www.themat.com Click on the “Membership”tab at the top of the Menu selection and you will be sent to the USA Wrestling membership page.
No refunds and no walk-in’s the day of the tournament.
