The rankings are done using only about 20% of the total results of matches wrestled in Connecticut. They are done with such a small percentage of match results because many results are not reported.
As a result, I am aware that the rankings are not reflective of all the competition in the state.
If you find something that does not appear right, you are entitled to voice your opinion. I am doing the best I can with what I have. If you want to improve the rankings, make sure your box scores are reported. You can report them to one of three places.
1. E-mail them to CTwrestling7@yahoo.com. (Connecticut Wrestling Online)
2. Post them under the appropriate "please report results" dated post on pin-to-win forum.
3. E-mail them to 3periods@live.com
Please do not e-mail your opinions to the CT Wrestling Online or 3periods e-mail addresses. Only results please. It takes me between 20-30 hours a week to do the rankings. I also have a job and a family. I don't have time to read e-mails of people's opinions about how my rankings suck. I need results to improve them. Please submit only box scores and completed tournament brackets or tournament results to the e-mail addresses.
Please do not send individual results to the e-mail addresses either. You may catch me in the chat room occasionally with individual results. Or, you can post individual results that you think may not be reflected in the rankings on the rankings post on pin-to-win.
When posting results, please list names of BOTH wrestlers, date, event or location, and specific result (pin, tech, major, score). I will verify all results that are submitted before entering them in the database I use. If I can not verify it, it will not be considered. I need the information listed above to verify.
PLEASE do not post something like...Tim Jones beat that 171 from Smithtown. The 171 from Smithtown might have been a JV guy or a guy that bumped up. Do not assume the wrestler you are talking about is the guy that may be ranked. Please, make sure you know both wrestlers.
I want to thank all of the coaches, fans, parents and wrestlers that have been getting the box scores and completed tournament brackets and results to me for consideration. I hope that more folks will join them in order to help me produce the most accurate rankings possible

Individual wins and losses carry less and less weight in the rankings as the body of work of every wrestler becomes more evident. At 160, there were 22 wrestlers in the spiderweb for spots 5-16. Someone may be ranked behind another wrestler whom they beat. However, that wrestler may have lost to more than one wrestler within a group. This happened, at least in part of the rankings, in almost every weight class.

As I noted in a previous post Brendan Quinn, the 125 lber from Pomperaug
decisioned the NFA wrestler 4-1 in the finals of the Frank Chaves Invitational
at Simsbury. I see you omitted the #15 ranked wrestler in the 125 lb. class.
Shouldn't Quinn be ranked in the spot before NFA? He is still undefeated.

Jon Siretanu from Norwalk has no business being ranked anywhere in the top 16, let alone #3. He has not beaten anyone ranked ahead of him, and has at least 4 loses to unranked opponents. Please remove him from the top 16, he's not that good!

and goevia is at #10 thats a joke! Tilbe is not even ranked. Did he quit. I thought that he was unbeaten as of last week. Yea he must have quit. I thought that the rankings are supposed to get better as the season goes on. I guess not.

119 is a little messed up in my opinion.
Joseph Levine should not be ranked so high, and Tilbe should be ranked much higher.
Also, i believe that Nick Amorando from New Milford teched #14 Cody Hawley-Fitch 15-0 and Dec. #10 Colin Lombardi_Bristol Central 7-4

Newtowns staff is so bad they never turn in any of their scores. That's why Gouveia is ranked so low, they just don't care because they have no one else who stands out. They should give the kid more respect. he's something like 17-0 i haven't seen him loose yet this year

it has nothing to do with newtown staff. newtown has a fine coaching staff, who cares about boxscores and rankings? gouveia will do what it takes in states, not online.

yes allen did get pinned by fountaine but allen was winng with like 45 seconds to go and just made a very costly mistake.... also fountaine lost to lombardi and allen has beaten him so i think its correct.

while I also think Gouveia will win at 130, there are two things hindering any climb in rankings...first, due to injury/illness, he only placed 6th last yr at LL, and that is a big factor in where he starts the year...to move up, I am guessing he has to beat someone ranked ahead of him, which is impacted by team's schedule

The Immaculate wrestler is currently ranked #1 at 130 lbs..
Since both Newtown and Immaculate are SWC teams these two
should meet in the finals at SWC unless Lischke from Bethel
is back by then. Immaculate is also scheduled for their SWC
match against Newtown next Wednesday. Unless the coaches juggle
the line ups they should meet next week.

That would indicate accurate rankings. If you are #11 and you beat #14 by a score of 7-6 that would only validate rankings are accurate, no need to post.

I’m not going to do this all the time. However, here are my responses to some of the comments above.
Gouveia is underrated. I agree with that. But, the only time I find Newtown results is when they are reported by Newtown’s opposition. To my knowledge he has not beaten anyone above him.
Brendan Quinn…he should have gotten more respect. I did not have B Quinn over Cipriano. However, Brendan Quinn did lose one this week to an unranked wrestler that probably will keep him out of the rankings Jan 27.
Koenig dropped down as the result of his losses to Millaras and Ceruzzi. At 160, 22 guys were in the spider web for spots 5-16.
Who has Simmers from Trumbull beaten ranked above him at 145?
Mark Gonzales beat Nick Cyr.
Siretanu climbed based on his win over Zach Cooke. Since the rankings came out I have received information about some of Siretanu’s losses. If those scores had been reported when they happened, Siretanu would not have been ranked so high.
Lundberg went 160 at the Dragon Duals.
Gialluca majored the “Brookfield kid?” Brookfield kids’ name…date…event…location?
Scott Horan beat the kid from “Hall” and “Bunnell” and the guy from “Platt” lost to the “Newington “130?” Please, more info.
I agree Tilbe is ranked too low. But Lombardi’s win over Fontaine and Levine getting in messed up 119. On the other hand, I have no wins for Tyler over guys ranked above him in his weight class to justify it. Do you?
DelPrete did beat Gonzalez. I did have it listed. I looked at my notes for last week and I did not have it considered. That was a mistake by me…I screwed up.
I did not have Amorando over Hawley or Lombardi. Those results will be considered next week.
I did not get the brackets for the Plainville tournament. However, according to the results I have, Carbonell wrestled 125 at Plainville. Levine wrestled 125. Did Bristol Central get two wrestlers in that weight class at that tournament? If not your Lombardi over Levine result, or my result, is not accurate. I got my result from Ct Wrestling Online.
I did not see the Fitch-New Milford box score. Therefore, I did not have Lynch over Whittmore. It will be considered next week.
Again, at 160 there were 22 guys competing for spots 5-16. I registered all the records I had within the group. Ceruzzi was 6-3, Thompson was 1-1. Ceruzzi came up higher based on win pct within the group and elimination of losses. It’s confusing, but it’s used the same in every instance when I have that many guys in a web.
I did not have the O’Leary beating Ramos or the McAllister beating Hawley. They will be considered next week.
“#4 has been pinned by #11.” Please…names…score…date…location or event.
There are A LOT of coaches that could care less if their kids are ranked. However, no wrestler is going to get credit for victories that require me to be a mind reader. To tell the truth, I barely have enough brain cells to stand and pee at the same time. Littleless mind read.
I have one result each for Nestor Rivera and Rob Esposito for the whole season. I didn’t have any of those listed above. I have Rivera listed at 119. I have Carbonnell and Summers listed at 125. Rivera is not ranked at 25 because I have him listed at 19.
I have the following results that were posted. All were this week and were not considered in the Jan 20 rankings.
Lancaster over Thompson
Flanagan over Del Prete
Denu over Andrade
Foley over Russo
In closing, I want to reiterate, the rankings are based on RESULTS only. My personal opinions and observations are not considered. I see flaws all over the place in the rankings. However, I would not be comfortable weighing my opinions in the rankings when I have only personally seen maybe five or six of the top 20 in every weight class. There really is no need to get defensive or protective of the wrestlers you support. The rankings really don’t mean anything. They’re just for fun and to generate interest and discussion.

At the plainville tournament bristol did have two kids at 125. i believe carbonelle lost to lynn in the finals and lombardi beat levine early in the tounrnament.

Beautifully put 3periods. I couldn't agree more. Especially the part about rankings being worthless except to generate friendly discussion and interest in certain matches that would otherwise just be one good kid against another. Maybe it even helps some good wrestlers strive to be great and beat a quote unquote Ranked wrestler. I thank you for your time and effort with the rankings as they are most definitely not easy or done with little effort. Thanks again and keep up the good work. i look forward to this weekends matches and next weeks rankings.

Please do not add any more results to this post after this date and time. I am not going to consider anymore results for the rankings for Tue Jan 27. Please save any new stuff you want to contribute to add to the bottom of the Tue Jan 27 rankings. The Jan 27 rankings should be out Tuesday night about 6 PM. Thank you...
Also, thanks for the kind words above. Even though the criticisms far outnumber the kind posts, it's the kind posts that mean something to me and motivate me to continue.
