Information I need to add results that posters think I may not be considering are names, schools, weight class, result, event or location, and date of result.
However, single results are having less and less effect on the rankings. The rankings are becoming more reflective of the entire season.

shut up groundnpound i doubt u can even rank the top the 5 of each weight class with 20% of the results reported, your probably just mad because u didnt get ranked. excellent job 3 periods, i can see how 160 is all jumbled up.
Thanks for the rankings

3 periods relax, not because I think you are acting out of error, but because you need not justify yourself to anyone. For the past few years you have been the cornerstone of Connecticut wrestling rankings, and your deductions have been something to look forward to each month. As far as unfounded comments are concerned, let them lay, because I'm sure that the majority of wrestlers in the state greatly appreciate your efforts. I do, and I can appreciate your efforts for what they are... an unselfish contribution to the credibility of our sport. Thanks for all that you do, and continue forging forth through the bitter comments elicited by immaturely founded comments from those who don't make the cut. Thanks!

from what i hear wilton beat manch 52 then wilton got pinned by the pomperaug kid then manch 52 pinned the pomp kid in the 1st so its understandable why the wilton 52 isnt ranked

Come on! Give the guy a break! Cut and paste his rankings, YOU add in the class/division info you want and repost it. Don't be lazy, 3 periods does have a life to attend to. Be thankful he does the rankings.

its hard enough to do top 16 in his free time, besides only 16 go to opens so top 20 is useless. be happy there are even any rankings to discuss, next youll want top 50. come on, be realistic
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
top 20 is nonsence to be honest top 16 is a little rediculus he does 16 because 16 go to opens ... but if you think about it if #1,3,7,10,15,16 are all from LL only 4 of them go. so if you dont see your name and think that u should be ranked 14-20 dont worry becuse there is a very good chance that you will go to opens when someone ranked high than you doesnt just based on what class you are in. so really the top 10 should be ranked and then maybe some honorable mentions... thats just my two sence 3 does a great job and puts alot of time in so cut him a break.

hey how about we rank every wrestler in the state! yea thats good we can find the worse and the best. lol 3 periods can you do the top 122 wrestlers at each weight class??

i have watched some heavy matches this year and they looked bad. rothberg didn't look good enoughh to be ranked third in the state by far. ramsey and niko from somers were both down by more than 6 points to my brother but he made very big mistakes that costed him the match

im just curious if hes injured or what not because the kid i faced from law last saturday didnt seem like ranked material. he was good, yes, but not a spotlight kid. is their regular 285 hurt or what?
great rankings 3periods. look foward to them every time.

yea i beat the law kid in one period. i mean he was good but i didnt think he would be that good. and im NOT here to brag i just wanted to know. he was probably 6'1 6'2 280. does that sound like him?

I'd like to apologize. It was a rough practice, rough day, blah blah. I just go ta littl eirritated seeing I got knocked out of a 6th place spot after going 5-0 Saturday. To top it of I had no idea on those rankings at all. My sincerest apologies to 3periods. You guys do an excellent job

groundnpound, Apologizing is hard. Whenever there is a disagreement it is rarely 100% one persons' fault. I should probably explain clearer what causes the rankings to fluctuate. LOL, but it's quite complicated and I'm even more lazy. No hard feelings. I respect when someone apologizes, it's not easy to do.

there is one reality here boys. it's not the ranking but the win. 3periods works hard to give us an 'indicator' of what may be likely based on all he knows at the time of his rankings. that is, what info he gets. just the facts, ma'am.
if anyone is nervous about their ranking, i invite you to look at the rankings at this time last year against what the actual outcome of the open was. not the same. sometimes, not even close.
the point is, don't bug 3periods with the small stuff. get him the scores and leave out the commentary. if you can't take the rankings as an indicator, just wait a week. last year the patriots were undefeated but lost the finals at the open (thank god).
don't moan about your ranking and don't blame the messenger. just wrestle better your next match.

your right, rankings dont matter. but tilbe is nasty and just because people are curious about why such a talented kid isnt ranked doesnt mean you have to throw a fit

Executing these state-wide rankings is no easy task, 3periods cannot watch every wrestler, nor be at every match. Considering that idea, I acknowledge how successfully you put this batch together. Great job.

I know this is one glaring error in the rankings. I know Tyler and his father. I have watched Tyler develop and knew even before the season started that he was one of the top five or six kids his size in the state. Unfortunately, I have no record of a win against a ranked kid. The preseason rankings were based on a point system I used coming out of last season. If that point system were used today to create the rankings, Tyler would be at #13 at 119. However, to my knowledge, he has no wins against guys above him. Other wrestlers have beaten guys that were ranked above him. Therefore they jump over him and into the mix, thus, the gradual decline for Tyler in the rankings. Believe me, I know he is a top guy and he will show it come tournament time. Right now, he is a glaring flaw in the ranking system I use.
There are definite flaws in the rankings, I know this. However, the rankings are not based on my opinion. They are based on the results I have. I probably don't even have 20% of all results. All the criteria I use is applied the same to all wrestlers, regardless of whether I know them or like them. I do the best I can with what I have. But, the system is not perfect because the results are not complete and...well...because the system just isn't perfect.
The good news is the rankings don't mean a thing. They carry no purpose or have no influence at all in the seedings for the divisional tournaments. Matter of fact, they have no influence at all in any tournament in the state. Please, don't take them too serious. They are just one man's attempt to create discussion about, and interest for, high school wrestling in CT.

i was at the goveia buckley match..it was a home job
it was gouveia senior night and the ref who was making ****ty calls all night didnt dissapoint in this matchup. First of all there was a stalling call on buckley then gouveia was awarded 1 point..it was a non stop moving fight..there was clearly no stopping in the whole match.so im not really sure were the stallin call came from..and it waqs only the 1st stalling call..
second of all with about 12 seconds left in the match buckley turned gouveia and the ref clearly got a 4 count on the backs and didnt award any points to buckley..shoulda been 2 points..
the final score should have been 8-7 buckley..even if you wanna count the stalling 8-8 and shoulda gone into o.t...it was a great match by both wrestlers..but really unfortunate the ref blew that match

This is true but believe me it does have influence... these rankings mean more than you think to the average Joe.every where i go people talk about these rankings and more people are tuned into this forum than you think. not everyone post or comments. you have the same few that try and position themselves each week. But if wrestler X beats wrestler Y and they are ranked 16 and 15 let me tell you it makes a diff in these kids thinking....now we all know top 5 is mostly correct can't disput much......but these kids use your info and means a littlemore than some people think motivatation, what about teams that have like 4-5 people..i can assure you if a kid just outside of rankings beats someone good they know and it means something...not everything comes down to state championships...kids have great moments thru out the season they remember forever...Just my 2 cents you are doing a good job...But when you post that someone is better than what your mathmatical system and non reporting coaches make someone better ( Tilbe is your example ) don't forget there are probably 10 other kids out there in the same position...until you can get every coach out there to report results to you it is just discussion..there are some good wrestlers that are not ranked because of this. But you can't speak about how 1 kid is good and your system is screwed because you have scene him wrestle...and not say how good those other 10 you haven't scene. Just my outsider view when i read this post..

Do the rankings include all the posts on http://ctwrestling7.homestead.com/index1.html, or do they have to be sent to directly to this site? As many of you probably know-on this site past weeks are accessible and matches that aren't reported are listed in red, so you know which ones are.
Also, the entire state schedule is found at:http://www.casciac.org/scripts/schedulelm0809.cgi?sport=boys-wrestling&levels=V , so we know what matches took place and which ones were reported.
A savy programmer could automate data entry from CTwrestling online into 3periods' system.
On another note, this site is fun, I just wish people would be a bit more respectful and realize it all flushes out in the end. The best(for that day) will be standing at the top of the podium in the end.
Just a moment of thought before posting may help some of you look less like idiots. Also, as mentioned previously, if you want people to get anything out of what you post-be specific about the wrestler's name, team and weight, and maybe even do a little background work before you spout off about someone's abilty. Know who the varsity guy is at the weight you're posting about. I see posts about how this guy or that guy is better than everyone, yet they completely ignore major players in a weight class.
Keep up the good work 3periods.

haha! idk if it's a full out concussion.. but ive been hit in the head the last 4 days. with the rack roller, nick murphys knee, locker left open, and my closet door. ive been getting banged up.
a little dizzy but i wouldnt say concussion. and the match today was awesome to win but i wreslted like a girl. i was scared the whole time of losing..and then finally just hit the last take down to win. i cant wait to see Damien in LL's.

I want to thank everyone for their results. Somewhere above someone asked if I consider the results on Ct Wrestling Online. I check that first. I check it for two consecutive days after the day of scheduled matches. I do not scan back for things that may be added three or more days after that scheduled match day. Occasionally I do miss something. I am old, my mind is feeble and my eyes are burning by Sunday and Tuesday afternoons and I usually have to take my old-man-nap.
As far as the opinions. This a free country and everyone is entitled to them. Truth is, the rankings are not based on anyone's opinion, not even my own. I get less than 20% of results. I go with what I have.
I'm sorry that I did lose my cool above with groundnpound. It was a knee-jerk reaction which I should have taken a few mintues to think about. I truly regret it.
The writer above who said I should not come to the defense of one particular wrestler not being in the rankings is right too. If I start doing it for one, I should do it for all. The reason I did it for Tyler is I let my personal feelings get in the way. I have known Tyler and his dad for many years. I like them both. However, I should not voice my personal opinions on a specific wrestler in the rankings without results to support it. It may be interpreted as bias. I do have my opinions. However, they do not affect the rankings.
Please do not post results above this post that may be considered in the Feb 3 rankings. I will check this post one more time before I conclude my result search for Feb 3 rankings. However, I will only check below my post. Thanks...
