Those matches should not be counted in the team records. More importantly, those matches cannot be counted toward the individuals record. This is important come state seeding; winning percentage; 18 wins; 28 wins etc.

I agree with team records not counting but individually it's the samething as wrestling in a tournament where you enter 2 wrestlers per weight class. We had enough wrestlers from the 7 teams where no teammates wrestled each other (in some tournaments teammates meet in the finals). I guess I don't have to worry about "gables135's ruling" because my team was in a different pool. You always have someone who crys "it's not fair". Thanks Ron for the positive comment about the coaches giving JV kids an opportunity to wrestle in a varsity tournament...The only issue would be if these JV wrestlers would eligable for JV Tournaments LOL!

it is my understanding that coach oz is correct; however, if any regular varsity team member DID wrestle a teammate (which does NOT appear to be the case here, but does happen in some indiv trnys), those matches would not count toward indiv records for seed purposes, just as matches vs prep schools do not count (teams that are not members of their state assoc--like Pomfret--no offense beef). i would not count the TEAM wins on my team's record. and did I see correctly that a gilbert 130 (unranked) beat buckley (the former #1, who will drop a little after loss to gouveia), or was this another unverifiable "schou" thing?

I dont know how they can count. If they are clearly a team of JV's, how can they count as varsity wins? I understand in some tourn. two wrestlers are entered but in this case it is a whole team that is being benefited. So if I need to get a kid an extra win to reach 18 or 28, then next saturday I should just set up a couple of extra matches at my quad meet?

Well does that mean that every time a coach inserts a JV wrestler in the line-up (I used 5 JV wrestlers in one of our meets yesterday) the varsity wrestlers from the other team shouldn't count the win/lost towards their varsity record? If that's the case then most good wrestler would only end up with 15 matches per year seeing that some teams put a JV wrestler out there against them.

I am so concerned about DHS. They got there butts kicked today by LI team. I am concerned that they lost all the close matches. THEY NEED TO TRAIN HARDER, IT COMES DOWN TO HOW BAD YOU WANT TO WIN. As a former LI wrestler and DHS wrestler I know the difference....but holy crap DHS needs to do better than that. I am cranky..please work harder...choose not to lose!
