-From The MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE = INTERSTATE ROUTE 90: Take exit # 6, Springfield. At end of ramp, turn left onto Route # 291. Take the Armory street exit (= Exit # 3). Go 3/4ths. of the way around the rotary & take the Armory street south. At 3rd. light, turn right onto Taylor street. Take an immediate left onto Federal street. Go about 4/10ths. of a mile & turn right into S.T.C.C.'s main gate. Circle around to the Gym.

-From Route # 91 (North or South): Take exit # 8 to Route # 291. Get into the right lane. Take exit # 3, Armory St. Go through the traffic light. Take the next right onto Armory St. south. At the 3rd. light, turn right onto Taylor St. Take an immediate left onto Federal St. Go about 4/10ths. of a mile & turn right into S.T.C.C.'s main gate. Circle around to the Gym.

Please send all names as you know them now; we can change names on rosters at weighins.
No changes will be allowed after weigh-ins.
Team Price - $750.00 Down Payment - $100.00
The balance on all registrations is due at weigh-ins or your team does not wrestle.
You Must Send Your Deposit before we let the team enter the tournament.
All wrestler, coaches and table workers must have an AAU card. AAU
Cards need to be purchased online at www.aausports.org and you must bring
a copy of the card to weigh-ins. If you do not get your card before you come
there will be a computer set up so you can get one at weigh-ins, but you
must have a credit card to purchase one on site. The AAU card is for
insurance purposes only.

Weight Classes are as follows:
70, 75,80,85,90,95,100,105,112,119,126,135,145,155,170 190, HWT(max 250)
For Grades 5th thru 8th grade and can’t be 16 before the day of the tournament.

Virginia Challenge Holiday Duals
When a wrestler is assigned to another team they will be given a wrist
band from that team and are not allowed to go back to the home team.
Any questions, please call me at 757-286-7982.and I will be happy to explain it to you.
You will be responsible for the wristbands; they are required to enter the building each
day. They will be put on at weigh-ins and we ask they not be taken off.
Wrestlers are only permitted to move up one weight class from their certified actual
weight Class. If they move up more than one weight class they will be forfeited for that
match and their team points will not count. Last Round each day can start early if mat,
referee and both teams are ready.

Admission Prices are as follows:
Adult Day- $13.00
Adult Weekend- $22.00
Child Day- $9.00 (6 and over)
Child Weekend- $12.00(6 and over)
5 and under are free.

T-Shirts are available for sale at the tournament. Concession Stands will be available all
day.

When: Sunday, December 13, 2009
Time: Wrestling Begins @ 9:00 a.m.
Place: Pottsville Area Middle School , Martz Hall Arena
Team Registration Cost: $300 due by November 21st
Weigh-Ins: Sunday morning 7:00am to 8:00am
Coaches Meeting: Saturday, Dec. 10 @ 7:30 a.m.
Number of Teams: 8-10 Teams, Teams guaranteed at least 4 matches
Wrestler Eligibility: Grades kindergarten thru sixth – No junior high/7th graders
Weight Classes (3 alternates are permitted per team)

Tournament Rules
Modified PIAA rules. No junior high students. Singlets, wrestling shoes & headgear must be worn . laces must be taped . If you have any skin disorder, you must have a doctor’s permission slip available with the type of disorder, or you will not be permitted to wrestle. No more than four (4) coaches on the bench at any one time.


Tournament Match Guidelines
Pools will be drawn during *Coaches Meeting on Saturday @ 7:30 a.m.
Round-Robin matches through pools. Top team from each pool will move into Championship Match (1st & 2nd place). Top runner-up from each pool will move into Consolation Finals (3rd & 4th). Third team from each pool will wrestle for 5th & 6th.
Length of Bouts
3-one minute periods - 1 minute OT - 30 second ride out period. In event of a tie score following OT ride out, wrestler with most ride time in OT period wins the match. If ride time is even, ref. decides winner.


Team Rosters
Head Coach is required to mail in a team roster along with team registration form and tournament deposit.
Team Rosters should include; Wrestlers Name, Weight Class & Age. Deposit Registration Form & Rosters due no later than November 21, 2009. Teams are permitted (3) alternates.
Wrestlers must wrestle within program for which they are competing. In the event a team needs to fill a weight class(s) the Head Coach must notify and have wrestler approved by the Tournament Director.

Attached Team Roster / Release Form should be completed along with Team Roster/Parental Release form must be turned into Tournament Director.

NOTE
Food will be served throughout the day. No Food or Drinks will be allowed in the Gym area. No coolers or outside food will be permitted

Tournament officials reserve the right to refuse entry to questionable cases.

Concessions: Will be available all day.

BIG RED "HOME BY HALFTIME" YOUTH WRESTLING TOURNAMENT

WHERE: Tyngsborough High School, 36 Norris Road, Tyngsborough, MA.

WHEN: SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2009

AGES: ***NEW THIS YEAR*** NO K-4 UNLESS BORN BEFORE JANUARY 1, 2000 (See bottom for info on later date for K-4 Tournament). See two age divisions below.

TWO (2) AGE DIVISIONS:

GROUP 1: Born before January 1, 2000 and on or after January 1, 1998.

GROUP 2: Born before January 1, 1998 and after January 1, 1995. No 9th graders and no 1994 or earlier birthdays.

FORMAT: 5 man round robins (where possible).

LEVELS: To the extent possible, we will group as many first year wrestlers as we can into Novice Brackets in Groups III and IV. Outliers (kids who are on the heavy or light end for their age group) will be grouped as well as possible. If no brackets are available, heavy outliers will be given the option of bumping up to the next Division, BUT NOT DOWN.

FEES: $15 per wrestler. $3 fee to spectators over the age of 18.

WEIGH-INS – ONSITE THE DAY OF TOURNEY ONLY:
7:30-8:30 Registration and Weigh-in.

9:00 – 10:00 AM SEAN HARRINGTON will put on a clinic. For all of us locally, Sean needs no introduction. Below is Sean's brief bio:
Sean is a 1991 Massachusetts State Champion (OW), 1991 New England Champion for Dracut High School, NCAA All-American (1995, 1996) for UMASS Lowell, and a two time Olympic Trials qualifier placing 8th and 11th. Sean is the only Massachusetts wrestler to place at the US OPEN in Freestyle on the senior level (8th place 2004). He also was a member on the Texas Shooters on the inaugural television season of Real Pro Wrestling on PAX.

WRESTLING
Wrestling is scheduled to begin between 10:00 AM and 10:30 and will be finished before “HALFTIME” of the PATS v. BILLS GAME!

INDEX CARDS To save time at registration, bring 3 x 5 index card with name and club name in top left, grade in top right, number of years experience and preference of N for Novice or E for Experienced in bottom left, date of birth in bottom right.

NO PRE-REGISTRATION No pre-registration this year. All registration is the morning of the tournament.

Headgear and singlets are recommended but not required.

As always, good sportsmanship and a sense of humor is mandatory!

1. NYS High School Modified - Bout Length: 1 minute, 1 minute, 1 minute.
2. Round robin group of six - guaranteed five matches in group of six.
3. Singlet and headgear preferred (no loose clothing).
4. Sudden Death Overtime: All age groups (1 minute, then 30 seconds).
5. No JV or Varsity experience.
6. Wrestlers may compete in only one division and weight class.

• 2nd criteria: head-to-head winner

AGE AS OF DECEMBER 19, 2009: Proof of age required if contested and agreed upon by the tournament director. Each weight class is made up of 4 to 6 wrestlers whose ACTUAL weights are closest to each other, taking into account last year's record/past honors. Coaches must do their own weigh-ins and ACTUAL weight must be put on registration form.

NOTE: Tournament director reserves the right to combine or eliminate weight classes.

Weigh-in Procedure - For Club Tournaments: Madison weights (weight groups determined by registration weight) apply. If actual weight is above the registered weight plus allowance, that competitor will not be allowed to wrestle. ENTRY FEE: $ 20.00 PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY. Must be postmarked by December 2, 2009.
LIMITED TO THE FIRST 300 PAID ENTRIES
ADMISSION: Adults $2.00 – Kids $1.00

WRESTLING BEGINS: 10:00 AM
SEEDING MEETING: Seeding will be done on experience level/records. Experience level must be filled out.
HONOR WEIGH-IN: Wrestler’s weight may be challenged prior to the end of the first round of wrestling for $20.00; refundable only if wrestler fails weight challenge. Wrestler must be within 3 lbs. of his/her registered weight. Wrestler will be disqualified with no refund if he/she is over. Be honest with weight and rating.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS: 1st and 2nd Place Trophies; 3rd and 4th Place Medals
TEAM AWARDS: Trophy for 1st Place team. (1st = 10 points, 2nd = 7 points, 3rd = 4 points) Each team must designate a 10-person roster with 2 wrestlers per each division. Sheets available at head table.

RULES: New York State (Modified High School)

Each age division will be sorted by actual weight. Actual weights must be entered on the form. Each bracket will be made up of 5 wrestlers (if possible) whose weights are closest with consideration given to experience and ability that is received on the tournament application. Every effort will be made to give each wrestler 4 matches.
JV and Varsity experience accepted.
You may only enter one age/weight division.
Tournament Director reserves the right to eliminate/combine weight classes.
Age as of day of tournament. Proof of age must be presented if contested.

2nd Annual “Ice Breaker Youth Open”
Hosted by the Blue Wave Wrestling Club/Elwood Youth Wrestling

Time: Check In 8am for Intermediate. 10am for Novice/Schoolboy.

Fee: $25 pre-registered only. NO WALK INS! Application must be received by Dec 1st.
Divisions: Intermediate (Born 2000 to 2001), Novice (Born 1998-1999), Schoolboy (Born 1996-1997)

Weight Classes: Madison Weights, 4-5 man Round Robin. Most wrestlers will receive 3 or 4 matches. **All competitors will receive a medal.
Honor Weigh-Ins, However a scale will be on site. If your weight is challenged and you do not weigh within 3 pounds of the weight you list on your application you will be removed from the tournament and will not receive a refund! If in doubt add a pound or two!

Wrestlers MUST have 2009-10 USA Card, available at www.themat.com. Cards NOT sold day of tourney. Wrestlers MUST be able to produce USA card at check-ins.
Admission: Spectators $3, Students $1. No fee to coaches with valid 2009-10 USA Coaches Card.
All coaches must have valid 2009-10 USA Coaches Card to be allowed on the mats.

Furthermore Releasor acknowledges and fully understands that there may be other associated risks with such activities which are not known or not reasonably foreseeable at this time.
