you could make a solid case for the SWC, ECC, and FCIAC. At the more competiive weights (130-160) you can't be too much of a chump to place there. Not to say that the other weight classes are not competive, its just really hard to get a bunch of good 103,112, 215's, ect into the same conference.

I would say fciac is still the strongest although in one of its weaker years with ridgefield and staples. But Danbury and Warde are still the 2 best teams in the state and fciac is probably gona place at opens in a lot of weight classes.

while i am as big of an ecc proponent as anyone, and most years, this discussion is without merit (7 of 14 open champs from ecc last yr, and typically 1/2 the teams in the top 10), but this looking at indiv rankings and coaches poll, this year may be debatable. still would love to see a saturday dedicated to the 6 power conferences facing off in a duals at 6 sites, with all the top teams at one spot, all the 2nds from each league at another and so on.

not a chance...fciacs are hands down the toughest...top two teams...trump card. not to mention you guys have no idea how grueling it is to face danbury several times everyyear and if you're in the LL's with them like stamford westhill greeniwch and trumbull its ridiculous, but yea year in year out danbury puts out a tough guy in every weight class, and every guy in the fciac every year can count on that.

fciac may be a little down this year, but they have top guys in the state in every weight class.

Most studs? Best balance? I think the question is too general to have a definitive answer.

The CCC certainly has an advantage due to sheer numbers. The conference is huge. Being in the center of the state also allows many off-season training opportunities within a reasonable commute.

The SCC is having a big year this year, but is not this good on a yearly basis. Personally, I think this conference's first four teams are as good as any others conference's first four.

The ECC, I believe, has middle school aged programs in the schools. This is an excellent feeding program system and provides great depth. It is probably the conference with the highest percentage of strong teams and gives great balance for in-league competition.

FCIAC has two of the best teams in the state. Probably the best two teams. After the first two, it's a dramatic drop off this year. But, put those two teams together and they could compete with any other conference's "all-star" team.

These are probably the four power conferences this year. Which is the best? It depends on how you define best.

In my opinion top to bottom year in and year out it would be the ECC. Yes the FCIAC has Danbury and Warde as well and usually 2 - 3 other quality teams but as a whole I would favor the ECC. I personally try and schedule more ECC schools as opposed to some other conferences. This is just a personal preference. This season in particular the SCC is very tough with 6 teams Xavier, Amity, Hand, Shelton, Derby and Law all at one time being in the top 10 or receiving votes. In order this season by conference not by team I would have to rank the top 5 conferences this season in this order.

1:SCC
2:ECC
3:FCIAC
4:CCC
5:SWC

The last 5 years.

1:ECC
2:FCIAC
3:SCC
4:CCC
5:SWC

This is just in my opinion, if you were to go back another 5 years the FCIAC would probably be on top followed by the ECC and 5 years prior to that it would shift around yet again. Back in 2000 - 2005 it may have been the SWC and FCIAC as the top two in no particular order.

swcs is probably the hardest to win, its not the hardest overall, but theres always studs like frick, ford, gouveia, workman, lischke, caleca, broderick, and buckley.

The SWC seems like it doesn't have many head coaches that stay in the same place over a long period of time.
