Many coaches, parents, refs and fans know who I am. I asked them to keep it a secret from wrestlers so as not to expose my son to mean-spirited comments because they didn't like the rankings.

I am the father of a wrestler. I am a big time high school wrestling fan.

My son is Andrew Ford, Bethel's 152.

I decided to identify myself because it really doesn't matter who I am. It should be all about the wrestlers. Now you know who I am. It's no longer a secret.

What a letdown, eh?

AND on the bright side nobody can argue with the rankings at 152... your son IS the BEST at that weight class and nobody can deny it. No conflict of interest there, lucky for you

yeah your son is by far the best pound for pound wrestler - i hedge to say if there was one big tournament with all the weights he would be the last one standing and hes only a junior- who woulda thought u were his father- thats the one weight class that is a slam dunk lock for open champ

Techsandpins, someone pointed out that you are Duckunder too.In past posts you have attacked 3Periods and outted him, so why are you sucking up to him now? Mind me asking what school you attend?

3periods, The secret was getting out. I heard the rumor it was you as well. Anyhow, Like I have always said you have a done a wonderful job keeping it going. We are all glad you are such big a fan of CT wrestling. So is it safe to say we have you for at least another year???
I use to get asked if I was DuceDuce back in the day. But in all honesty, I don't have half the brain power.

Keep up the good work, this year's rankings will soon be finalized.

Thanks again, I can say for certain my kids follow it very closely. I still have a couple that will be fighting to get on the list by the end of States.

3periods.. dont worry about it. as long as your son wrestles hard, the rankings will hold weight regardless if there made by you his parent, or by someone else

It doesn't matter who you are, what matter's is that you are our information access to what ever is interesting in our sport. Can anybody else do what you do with the diligence shown? I'm sure there are alot young premaddonna's out there who's parent's never taught them not to comment on thing's that they really shouldn't. But they do.

LOL...BrunosBoy, I think I know who you are. Hint...you got a brother wrestling now AND you wrestled my son twice two years ago. Am I right?

As far as the secret getting out. I was a little disappointed about that. Everyone I had told was asked to keep it quiet and was told the reason I wanted it kept quiet. Many coaches, parents and referees knew who I was. The only wrestler I told was my son. He did not want anyone to know either. I thought I had trusted people that respected me, my son and my reasons. Those people who disappointed me know who they are. Unfortunately, I can only guess.

I think that's enough of a guilt trip. Hopefully the next time someone asks them to keep something private, they will.

John:
I wouldn't take it personal if I were you. I don't believe any of the people you told don't respect you, Andrew or the job you have done with the rankings. Unfortunatly, most people have a problem with keeping a secret. You know how it goes. They just have to tell someone, but they tell that person it's a secret and get them to promise they won't tell anyone else. We all know that never happens and the secret keeps getting passed on in the same fashion. Anyway, I know all the "important" people are glad you took up the rankings when dnowa had to stop. Keep up the good work and ignore the naysayers. By the way, I hope dnowa is doing the MCing at States and New Englands. I don't think anyone can do a better job. Good Luck to Andrew these next 4 weeks.

John,
When I had asked for paul Meyers email and you responded to me by email, your name came up as John Ford. Not that I said anything, or know you outside of 3periods, but maybe thats how it came out. But anyways you do great work. Best of luck to your son the rest of the way.

Thank you, coach. I did know that my name would show on responses. I rarely used that e-mail for outgoing and only responded to e-mails I was certain were adults or coaches. I used it with you because I knew Paul and it was clear you were looking for his e-mail for the tournament. I kept a record of all my responses.

It's not that important now. I have been pleased by the treatment from the community since I "came out." My main reason for trying to keep my identity confidential was to protect my son. I asked my son about how he felt about me coming out many times. He didn't want people to know I was his dad. LOL, actually, it's not much different from when I pick him up at school. He doesn't want people there to know who I am either. Matter of fact, now that I think about it, he puts those damn groucho glasses, a hat and sunglasses on everywhere we go. Hmmm...

So, anyhow, after the last rankings were posted, I let people know what many people already knew. The only reason I cared who knew before that was to protect my kid.

John I am glad you came out ! That was a tough secret to keep. But most of all I'm glad you finally getting the Credit your due. The rankings are great for the kids and the parents, how can we scout the competion with out the rankings.HA!HA! You have done a great job with what the coachs provide you.So now Andrew could take the fake glass's and hat off. And someone did have a good question ? Will you do this after Andrew wins all his State Titles ? Good luck to you and your son. I am sure I will see you at the L's.
