Does anyone know what the qualifications are for each? Also, how are you nominated for academic all state?

Academic All-State
Requirements: Any wrestler who places in the top 6 in the class tournament and maintains at least an 85 average or 3.4 GPA for the 2nd marking period. Particular letter grades do not affect standing.

’08 ACADEMIC ALL-STATE

Top 6 in LL, L, M or S tourneys

Average at least 85 percent in the
previous marking period and have
no grade lower than B (80 percent)

maintain highest level of
behavioral discipline in eyes of
the school's administration.


I believe you have to speak to your head coach and he makes sure you are qualified. Then, he recommends you for the recognition. The standard listed above was for last year. I don't think it has changed, but, I don't know. This has been the standard for as long as I can remember.

Ok...LOL...go with Coach Gillen's post ahead of mine. I was not attempting to contradict him. I was typing apparently about the same time as he and posted mine after his. I had not read his post before posting my response.

You are all state if you win one of the divisional state championships(LL,L,M,S)or
you finish 1st or 2nd at opens.
