| Curious to hear arguments regarding the toughest division/league in the state with respect to dual meet competition. I believe the SCC takes this one...
Yes, the FCIAC has Danbury and Warde-- both teams at the top of the food chain. But after that the level of competition drops off considerably (when compared to the SCC). Stamford, Trumbull, Greenwich...? These are respectable teams, but I doubt they would finish in the top half of the SCC.
Think about it... Xavier. Amity. Hand. Law. Shelton... If you have any of these teams on your schedule there's no free lunch. They're all either top-10 in the state or knocking at the door. And teams like Guilford and Fairfield Prep, granted, are not making anyone's top-10 list, but they fill just about every weight class and come ready to scrap.
Now, I'm not talking about who has the best overall individual talent, but rather who puts out the better dual meet competition.
Somebody prove me wrong (or right).

While it is close in terms of top wrestlers, the SCC is much deeper than the FCIAC this year. Just look at it by weight:
103: SCC sends 4 to Opens, with 2 class champs v. FCIAC sends 2 to Opens, with 0 class champs
112: SCC sends 3 to Opens, 0 class champs v. FCIAC sends 2 to Opens, with 1 class champ
119: SCC sends 2 to Opens, 0 class champs v. FCIAC sends 2 to Opens, with 1 class champ
125: SCC sends 1 to Opens, 0 class champs v. FCIAC sends 2 to Opens, with 2 clas champs
130: SCC sends 3 to Opens, 1 class champ v. FCIAC sends 2 to opens, with 0 class champs
135: SCC sends 2 to Opens, 0 class champs v. FCIAC sends 2 to opens, with 1 class champ
140: SCC sends 3 to opens, 1 class champ v. FCIAC sends 1 to opens, with 0 zero class champs
145: SCC sends 2 to opens, 0 class champs v. FCIAC sends 2 to opens, with 1 class champ
152: SCC sends 3 to opens, 1 class champ v. FCIAC sends 1 to opens, with 1 class champ
160: SCC sends 2 with 1 class champ v. FCIAC sends 2 with 0 class champ
171: SCC sends 1 with 0 class champs v. FCIAC sends 3 with 0 class champs
189: SCC sends 2 with 0 class champs v. FCIAC sends 3 with 1 class champ
215: SCC sends 3 with 0 class champs v. FCIAC sends 0
275: SCC sends 2 with 1 class champ v. FCIAC sends 2 with 0 class champs
Final tally: SCC sends 33 to Opens, with 7 open champs v. FCIAC sends 26, with 8 class champs. Two tough leagues, but the SCC has the edge in depth.

This year is one of FCIACs worst years mainly because teams like Ridgefield who had state champs and ne placers out of Paulish and Blank has nobody this year. In a year or two FCIAC will clearly be the toughest division. |
