| how do they decide which alternate gets to wrestle between the S, M, L, and LL alternates?

It's listed in the tournament info document at
http://www.casciac.org/pdfs/wrestling_info0809.pdf
1) 1st alternate is 5th place from same division
2) 2nd alternate will be drawn from all other 5th place finishers
