it was one of the best programs in new england. and we are trying to establish a club at central off the top of my head i know of 3 open finalist and new englanders that are going to central right now. Billy Hueschneider of ledyard, jonathan fiorillo of berlin i believe, and kenny velez of whethersfield. im sure there are more individuals at central who dont know of the work we are trying to put in to once again make central wrestling one of the the elite power houses in CT again!

i messaged kenny velez and he said he is interested in the club and may have signed up already. if you and him want to join thats great. remember its just a club right now so its on your time availability, not the clubs.

This is great news. Central has been without an opportunity for wrestlers for too long. Kudos to the young man (men) that are taking the initiative and trying to get this going.

thank you mr.ford your compliments are more then appreciated. I am happy to say that there are other young men/ct wrestling highschool alum, that are making this task less difficult then it is. Thanks to them and to the staff/professors that believe in the program and scorn those who once diminished it. if anyone including you mr.ford has an information or can help by any means to bring back the program it will be deeply appreciated!

grecothrow, Ken DeStefanis was the coach at Central a few years back. He might be able to help you in finding stuff at Central. I think he was the assistant AD at one time there. Last I knew he was doing the Competitive Edge wrestling camps. There is a contact number at this link;

Don't know if that number is still good or not. He used to hold camps at Pomfret. Maybe Mr. LaBeef has a number to reach him if the one at the website is outdated.
If you can think of any way I can help, let me know. My oldest son, Danny, spent one year at Central before transferring to UConn. At that time, there was no wrestling opportunities at Central for my son.

There will be an information meeting on Thurday April 2, 2009 at 3:30p.m. It will not last more than an hour if that. At the meeting we will discuss the constitution for The Wrestling Club. We will also have a discussion and possibly a vote on who the officers will be for The Wrestling Club. Before we can go before the faculty senate and get recognized as a club it is mandatory that we have an information meeting. I will be collecting more signatures up until then and an email is going to be sent out among the student body informing everyone about the information meeting. If you know anyone who is interested but has not signed the petition please direct them to me either through email or let them know when the information meeting is.

Itd be great to get a club team going at CCSU and then someday have a team. My dad wrestled there and Itd be great to have a in state school with a program! Sacred Heart and Wesleyan are much nmore expensive...
