After doing extensive research and countless emails CT Wrestling LIVE has contributed to ct wrestling again! I have takin the liberty to email over 20 coaches from all division 1 schools asking about scholarships and wrestling program information to help all wrestlers in pursuing wrestling past high school. All the schools I have contacted are in the North East Area. I am not talking about Iowa State or Ohio State teams, but I am talking about wrestlers from CT qualifying to wrestle on a D1 team. I have compiled a list of D1 teams found all over the North East that host a D1 wrestling program. Many of these schools are also affordable! I have and continue to receive information regarding scholarships for CT Wrestlers who excel in there high school wrestling career and off season wrestling. If you thought D1 schools were out of the question guess again. I have listed about 30 D1 teams on my website for members only. If you are interested in being recruited, finding out scholarship information, or tuition costs, or anything to do with the school or wrestling please go to the web site, pick out a few of the schools and email them to me asking your questions. Free of charge we will find out information for you and contact schools to either contact you or schedule a possible scouting. Any questions leave them on this post or contact us at rankings@live.com I WILL ALSO BE LISTING ALL THE SCHOOLS IN THE AREA THAT HOST A DIVISION II AND III PROGRAM AS WELL OVER THE NEXT WEEK.

You are welcome,

after speaking with many D1 coaches alot of them have written the same thing to me. The coaches say the best way for CT kids to get scholarships is to compete more nationally. Alot of the coaches say they want to see CT kids need to be more competitive against teams from PA, Ohio, NY, NJ. Fortunately for us 3 of those states our practically neighbors! So my recomendation. If you are match up fairly well here in New England then GO TO NATIONALS!! WRESTLE MAWAS AND GO TO THE ADVANCE TOURNAMENTS! On coach told me he would like to see New England kids compete more nationally. So if your thinking you won a new England title thats not enough! Unfortunately. While that is a tremendous satisfaction these coaches our looking for you to compete beyond New England and why well because when you go to college the majority of your matches will be against non new england teams. Our top guys need to compete in nationally tournaments and do well. Anyways I wanted to share with you guys a few of the responses I got. Those responses came from coaches from Lock Haven, Wagner, Edinboro, Boston and Drexel. Ill keep you posted. If you are looking for national tournaments to compete in pleas email me and I will personally send you some or check the tournaments calendar on the site. Its updated daily.

so now that we know what they want lets get after it cuz we have kids that are capable. Were not talking about starting varsity Iowa Hawkeye wrestlers but still a great place to start and work your way up. Even if you stay at these schools for 4 years many CT wrestlers dont even go on to wrestle in college let alone D1.

Another note this doesnt just apply to the male wrestlers in this state. There are colleges around here that have women's programs! Lock Haven University is a D1 wrestling school. They have a mens program and womens program. The only other college that is around is in michigan which is Marygrove College.

First step is amending the rules so we can practice without hassle out of season. We are at a disadvantage nationally. Go ahead and defend the rules and the quality wont change.

However, thanks for your due diligence.

Nolimit, I can't help but notice that you are now echoing my sentiment from the "Mass Freestyle" topic. Good to see you're on board! The more coaches and mentors we have using this philosophy, the more our state will appear on the national stage, for high school and college.

I'm not a coach so I'm not aware of the restrictions that CASCIAC is emposing on the state for wrestling. What can we do to change these rules? Someone mentioned a while back that a board will be meeting soon to discuss year end topics and challenges to the rules. Has this meeting already happened? How do we get our concerns onto the agenda?

No it doesn't matter as far as wrestling out of state. But I think what the coach above is saying is that they are not allowed to organize a team practice outside of the official season, which is restrictive considering that it leaves the only choice for wrestlers that want to continue to have to travel to a club or open mats somewhere. Although this is beneficial in some respects that the wrestlers will learn outside of their comfort zone of the team practice, it is also impedent of retaining wrestlers who either can't travel or can't afford the off-season club fee. Allowing school programs to continue in the off season could generate a greater interest in the National and regional level tournaments, improve the arena of CT wrestling as a whole and ultimately validate CT as a quality D1 producing state.

NOLIMIT - You are performing a great service here, and I look forward to your web site. Good call in putting IPMcallister at the top. I would encourage you to also promote opportunities at the D3 level. They don't offer scholarships, but I know first hand that coaches in these schools will grease the skids and make the application process a lot easier for a wrestler that they want on their team. Being a good wrestler is a strong advantage in a competitive admissions environment. As one D3 coach told me (regarding D1 recruiting) they are going after the same kids I am. Implying that the quality of D3 wrestling is very high. I am not aware of any D2 schools - that level should be promoted too. On another unrelated topic - were you at the State Open Tournament in the Parade of Champions?

lol was that quetion directed to me? if it was then no sorry I was only at the 1st day of the opens. I have the list of all the D3 schools and D2 schools just going to take me a few hours to type up plus family guy is on....lol.. I wanted to make sure I got up the D1 first because I know alot of people including myself were unaware of so many schools around CT that have a D1 programs. This will Give are guys a chance to compete against the nations top schools without having to attend one. Unless your grades are just that good and your parents make a ton of money then this doesnt apply to you lol

If you are looking for a college wrestling scholarship. Please contact me. Leave me your name and I can pretty much find your high school wrestling credentials. But please leave your name, school, grade, if you know what you want to major in, a list of high school achievements, clubs, sports, etc.. I will contact a few people too see who may be interested and set you up. Ofcourse anything with me is confidential, I think anyone can vouch for me on that. This is your future and alot of wrestlers believe it or not have the opportunity.
