I noticed it yesterday in the Win magazine delivered to my home. I have not checked on line. The story also mentions Danbury's other open champions Brian Jennings and Charlie Costanzo as well as Danbury or winning the team title.

Listen, I like Tucker but talk about dissing Bowman. Hey people news flash, Bowman won the New Englands!! If this is so easy where are the other Champions. Tucker took 5th. Bowman is Connecticuts wrestler of the year!!

Yes it is true that Bowman won New Englands but there is other things you have to take into affect such as strength of a weight class. If Tucker had wrestled 152 he might have been able to win New Englands. I'm not saying that Bowman Shouldn't have won it but there is more factors then just the place a person took in a tournament.

Plenty of other wrestlers deserved it more than him.
Bowman should have got it plain and simple. Coaches should push for there guys.
Give danbury some credit on having there kids reconized, Hell the sent like 15 kids
to Nationals probably around 25% of kids that went from ct. Toot Toot !!!

Wasn't really trying to say just e-mail...Was trying to make comment on pushing good info up the pipe line.
Doesn't have to be the magazine. If you have a great bunch of kids or just 1 you are going to tell
anybody who will listen for differant reasons. Maybe collages, who knows .

You also have to remember that Tucker won state opens in track or cross country i forgot and in wrestling and that is a huge feat itself... so i think Tucker deserves it.

Thier greatest farce was when Matt (thumb in the eye)Tricarico won the award.
Nothing against Tucker Schaefer or Charlie Costanzo because they both are great kids and athletes. I am just tired about hearing how great every single wrestler form danbury is the best that has ever been. Then they recieve awards that I believe should have gone to other wrestlers. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it.

Wow...Matt Tricarico didn't deserve the award his senior year? The kid pinned his way through New England. You can hate on Danbury all you want. But to say Danbury wrestlers don't deserve the awards they get selected for reaks of jealousy. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it.

lol itz funny how being an open champ is a bigger accomplishment then winning NE'S. i'd give the award 2 the girl from montville b4 i gave it 2 tuck. some of u people r ridiculous

because shes a girl!! and girl wrestlers get tons of publicity! I remember at the opens this year Jess got beat by a lower seeded kid and then still the news press was all over her right after the match. lol. But she holds her own, shes not bad, took 2nd at the district and what not.. Definitely not CT Wrestler of the year though. You definitely have to give that award to either Costanzo Bowman or Ford. Surprisingly I would give it to Andrew, he dominated pretty much all of his CT opponents and went to finals at NE's. I really think he would benefit tremendously to compete during the spring and summer..really..

Not sure if you were seriously asking but here goes ..... with only 2 exceptions (Open and NE Finals), Bowman pinned his way through States, State Opens and New Englands this year.

I stand by my post that Tucker is a good choice, but I will admit many other wrestlers deserved consideration. This is a sign CT wrestling is improving. Tucker achieved a first in CT by winning an open championship in 2 individual sports and contributed to Danbury winning a another team championship. National HS rankings and picking a wrester of the year are tough. This in no different then nationally ranked CT wrestlers that lose to in state opponents, it happens.

Umm...to say someone pinned their way through New Englands but for two exceptions is not what I was referring to in Matt Tricarcio's case. I was commenting on the fact that Tricarico pinned his way through New Englands his senior year (all matches at New England Tournament) and therefore I was surprised to see someone suggest that he was not deserving of the award he received that year.
I believe Tucker was the first wrestler in CT to win the CT Open in both wrestling and cross country in the same graduation year. If we can agree that only Open winners should be considered for Wrestler of the Year, then, his accomplishment certainly puts him in a special, exclusive group that no one (ever, I believe) else can claim.
I don't know what the criteria used for selecting WIN Wrestler of the Year award is. But, if academics, community service, leadership qualitites and other athletic accomplishments are considered, then the selection process is much more complex than looking at who placed higher at New Englands in wrestling.
Open discussion on the subject is a good thing. But, to diminish one wrestler's accomplishments to promote another's is unproductive. Can we not make our case for the wrestler we believe should win these awards without dissing another?

Bowman is too young to be recognized by something like this. Maybe when he is a senior he will be. He is a tremendous wrestler. However, I have watched Tucker for a few years and I am impressed. Tucker has the career to be Wrestler of the Year. Bowman does not. In a couple of years Bowman will be eligible for that.
Congratulations Tucker, we are all very proud of you!

um I hope that tucker winning a track title has nothing to do with CT wrestler of the year.. I see that 3periods is saying he is the first to win an open title in 2 sports, while that achievement is outstanding its pretty irrelevant to being CT Wrestler of the year. Im not putting anyone down, I know someone else mentioned it as well. Thats fine if your just complimenting him on it but maybe its just me to think that is irrelevant to being considered CT Wrestler of the year. Im not sure what these guys look at in order to make some one CT Wrestler of the year but if there only looking at performances from the year then tuck is a decent choice. He pinned his way up to the open finals winning an 8-0 match. As far as bowman goes you guys need to get over him..fast.. You cant pick him for CT Wrestler of the year or outstanding CT wrestler if he has losses to CT KIDS! You have many more guys who went undefeated up to there last match of the year. In my opinion the 189 weight class wasnt even as tough as the 119 or 152 class. Im very surprised to not see Ford win one of these awards. He pretty much owned all of his opponents with the exception of 1 or 2 a New Englands. well lets see the responses i get. cant wait
