ok, after a long day at the tourney I'd just like to make a simple statement and say that battle in the valley was quite possibly one of the worst run wrestling tournaments i have ever been to... simply from what i witnessed myself and my teammates gone through i can confidently say that we will not be returning next year.
for one, wrestling took forever and it didn't help that it started two hours late. not only that but many of us had to wait several hours in between matches (i myself having to wait well over 4 hours to get my SECOND match of the day)
AND many of the people wrestling two different divisions had to wrestle back to back (example: one of my teammates was wrestling in the back gym, and his match for another division was on deck in the other gym...and it happened to him TWICE!)
It also didn't helpp that many of the table workers were too busy texting/ talking on the phone to pay attention to the matches, and often got the score of the match wrong.
Although what i just said my come off the wrong way, i really hope someone reaxds this and hopefully there are a few changes made to the tourney next year...

uhhhh.. Well I hate to agree but it was kinda ran ehhhh.. But im sure its not easy and many things can be thrown off on tournament days.. I know that it is very difficult to run these so they cant always run smoothly. and on another note **No one enter 2 different weight classes at any tournament without considering the fact that you just may have to wrestle back to back** I know some wrestlers are badasses and wanna do both but they really shouldn't throw matches out of order because one kid just got done wrestling.. If you cant handle it, dont do both.. That happens at ALOT of tournaments. Not just here but there were definitely some things off with this one but hey whatever hopefully its a learning experience.

I first want to thank everyone involved in the tournament. I know it is not easy to put these type of events on. The competition at the tournament was pretty good considering it was memorial day weekend. I was very surprised at the turn out and very pleased with the amount of tough wrestlers at the tournament.
BUT.......
I have been to many, many, many tournaments in my life and this one was run pretty bad. First, It was very hot in the main gym. I was just coaching and was dripping with sweat.(way too hot) Second, If you are going to tell people that they need to be at weigh ins at a certain time then please stick to that time. The tournament did not start until 10AM and you had advertised that the tournament would begin at 9AM.(I understand starting a couple minutes late but an HOUR???) They had another gym that could have housed 3 more mats but they did not use it until they realized that they were extremely behind. They set up one more mat in the other gym to give them 4 mats total.(If they would have had that open the whole day, they might have got everyone out of there a little bit earlier) I saw and heard many people leave the tournament early because they had simply been there too long and had enough. (for next year I would suggest running the tournament on more mats. You have two good size gyms; use them!)
Table workers at the tournament were ok to start but after being there all day they did start to slip. Many times, scores were wrong and had to be corrected. Which exteneded the times of each match.
I would like to commend the young referees!!!(They did an excellent job!!)
All in all not the best run tournament. Many things need to be fixed for next time. Thank you Farminton HS wrestling, for hosting it and I wish you luck next time.

Well one thing to keep in mind is that there were over 150 walk-ins which was the main cause for the delayed start. They had to re-bracket to include all of these additional wrestlers. Mr. Misko and all of the other workers put alot of effort in to make things run as smoothly as possible. As always, there's room for improvement but I think that Coach Misko realizes this and will make sure the tournament runs much better next year.

hey, I was on mat 3 and I want to apologize for the behavior of my fellow scorers. I understand as head scorer I had the responsibility to make sure they were on task but they often didn't start/stop the time and it really did impair the match. It was a long day for us all and I wasn't able to get up from my table for a break, but thank you for bearing with us and congratulations to everyone who did well that day.
